Nativity scene removed from Montreal Town Hall

Canada is a country whose culture, laws and traditions have been indelibly shaped by Christianity. It is not a “Christian country” in the sense that everyone who lives in Canada is a Christian, but it is a part of Christendom, a part of an imperfect hodgepodge of political and individual freedoms rooted in the notion that man was created in the image of God and  that 2000 years ago God became Incarnate and was the inspiration for a civilisation.

That is why Canada should celebrate Christmas, why prayers to the Triune God should be said in public meetings, why schools should not shrink from Christian  education and why those who can’t live with that should live somewhere else.

From here:

MONTREAL – A posh Montreal suburb has decided to remove a nativity scene and menorah from town hall rather than acquiesce to demands from a Muslim group to erect Islamic religious symbols.

The decision by the Town of Mount Royal upsets a Christian resident who says the town is abandoning an established tradition under pressure from a tiny religious minority.

Town councillors of several different religions unanimously decided to remove the Christian and Jewish items.

They had been displayed in front of the municipal building for the past 15 years.

“We asked ourselves if we were willing to display (symbols of) the five major religions,” said Mayor Philippe Roy.

“This is not the role of the city, which is a secular public institution.”

The decision comes amid a larger debate about the place of religion in public institutions.

Quebec’s highest court has agreed to hear an appeal of a ruling that barred councillors in Saguenay, Que., from praying before their meetings.

Saguenay Mayor Jean Tremblay has been spearheading a legal, financial and public-relations crusade to support his right to lead the short prayer.

The battle has pitted Tremblay against the province’s human rights tribunal as well as the Quebec Secular Movement.

Carla Mariano, a Christian resident of Mount Royal, tells QMI Agency that her town’s decision to remove the manger is an affront to Canada’s Judeo-Christian heritage.

Whatever you do, don’t offend non-Christians

Offending Christians has become a national sport while offending non-Christians has become illegal.

What about equality? Why not offend everyone?

From here:

Police have threatened a Christian cafe owner with arrest –for displaying passages from the Bible on a TV screen.

[…..]

Lancashire Police said they had received a complaint on Saturday afternoon from a female customer who was ‘deeply offended’ by the words she had seen on the screen.

And here:

The BBC has been accused of ‘absurd political correctness’ after dropping the terms BC and AD in case they offend non-Christians.

Australia: BC not PC enough

From here:

A DECISION to use politically correct terms – which do not mention Jesus Christ – for dates BC and AD in the new national history curriculum was an act of Christian cleansing, church leaders said yesterday.

BCE (Before Common Era), BP (Before Present) and CE (Common Era) are the new neutral terms to replace the historical terms BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini).

Removing BC and AD from the curriculum was an “intellectually absurd attempt to write Christ out of human history”, Anglican Archbishop Peter Jensen said yesterday.

“It is absurd because the coming of Christ remains the centre point of dating and because the phrase ‘common era’ is meaningless and misleading,” he said.

It was akin to calling Christmas the festive season, Archbishop Jensen said.

All of which is BS: a civilisation that is determined to expunge any reference to its foundations from public discourse will shrivel and die – deservedly so.

What is worse than being called a Fascist?

Being called a faggot. Hurled obloquies such as “fascist” and “fat git” are water off a duck’s back to those drenched in today’s ambience of tolerance. But refer to someone as something I used to eat with gravy every Wednesday and the equality Gestapo start launching probes.

Obviously I am going to have to brush up on my insults.

From here:

An Aberdeen councillor has been cleared of making homophobic comments towards the authoriity’s gay then-leader.

Jim Farquharson admitted calling John Stewart a “fascist” and a “fat git” but Mr Stewart claimed the term “faggot” had been used.

The incident happened after a heated council meeting in September last year.

A complaint was lodged with the Public Standards Commissioner for Scotland (PSCS). It has been ruled he was not in breach of his code of conduct.

Mr Farquharson categorically denied using the term at the time of the incident.

He told BBC Scotland: “I have never used such a word.”

However, he added that he stood by his fascist comment.

The UK, tireless in its quest to flush itself down the toilet of Political Correctness

A British doctor has been accused of “harassing a vulnerable patient” by the General Medical Council because he invited the person to church and to an Alpha presentation. Yes, that sounds pretty intimidating.

The offense of the Cross

From here:

An electrician faces the sack for displaying a small palm cross on the dashboard of his company van.

Former soldier Colin Atkinson has been summoned to a disciplinary hearing by the giant housing association where he has been employed for 15 years because he refuses to remove the symbol.

Mr Atkinson, a regular worshipper at church, said: ‘The treatment of Christians in this country is becoming diabolical…but I will stand up for my faith.’

Throughout his time at work, he has had an 8in-long cross made from woven palm leaves attached to the dashboard shelf below his windscreen without receiving a single complaint.

But his bosses at publicly funded Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) in West Yorkshire – the fifth-biggest housing organisation in England – have demanded he remove the cross on the grounds it may offend people or suggest the organisation is Christian. Mr Atkinson’s union representative said he faces a full disciplinary hearing next month for gross misconduct, which could result in dismissal.

As you can see, the cross is so conspicuous and, after all, there is nothing quite so damaging to an organisation’s reputation than the insidious allegation that it might be “Christian”; the mere act of writing that makes me want to disinfect my keyboard. I’m surprised that Atkinson wasn’t charge with sedition – or, at the very least, a public order offence.

Seattle school insists on calling Easter Eggs “Spring Spheres”

From here:

“At the end of the week I had an idea to fill little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that,” Jessica said.

She was concerned how the teacher might react to the eggs after of a meeting earlier in the week where she learned about “their abstract behavior rules.”

“I went to the teacher to get her approval and she wanted to ask the administration to see if it was okay,” Jessica explained. “She said that I could do it as long as I called this treat ‘spring spheres.’ I couldn’t call them Easter eggs.”

Rather than question the decision, Jessica opted to “roll with it.” But the third graders had other ideas.

“When I took them out of the bag, the teacher said, ‘Oh look, spring spheres’ and all the kids were like ‘Wow, Easter eggs.’ So they knew,” Jessica said.

Just imagine if someone had had the temerity to suggest that Easter eggs are a symbol of Jesus’ resurrection. Would the S.W.A.T. team have arrived in time to contain the threat or not?

Racist Rhyming Resistor Reprimand

From here:

A teacher has been reprimanded for communicating a racist and sexual rhyme while teaching a pupil at a Sussex school.

James Hersey, 68, was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct by the General Teaching Council.

The hearing heard he was teaching electronics to a Year 11 pupil at Oriel High School in Crawley when the incident happened in March last year.

Mr Hersey said he was a caring teacher who had made a mistake.

The disciplinary hearing was told Mr Hersey was teaching a student a rhyme to help remember the sequence for the colour coding of resistors.

Yet more barmy political correctness. I remember learning a number of these rhymes when I was young; I’m sure everyone is dying to know what they are:

Boys better remember our young girls become very good wives
Bad boys rape our young girls behind victory garden walls.
Bad boys run our young girls behind victory garden walls.
Bad boys rape our young girls but Violet gives willingly.
Black boys rape our young girls but Violet gives willingly.
Black Boys Ravish Only Young Girls But Violet Gives Willingly
Bright Boys Rave Over Young Girls But Veto Getting Wed.
Bad Beer Rots Our Young Guts But Vodka Goes Well
Bad Boys Rape  Our Young  Girls  But  Virgins Go Without
Big boys race our young girls but Violet generally wins.

Bye Bye Rosie Off You Go Bristol Via Great Western
Bye Bye Rosie Off You Go But Via Great Western
Bye Bye Rosie Off You Go do Become a Very Good Wife

Cross in Oakville senior citizen residence chapel replaced with something else

As I wrote here, the cross in the Oakville Senior Citizen Residence chapel was removed so as not to offend non-Christians.

It has been replaced with an arrow pointing to Mecca.

Last month, remove the cross; this month add an arrow to Mecca; next month build a minaret on the roof? Did I mention that Bishop Michael Bird’s wife, Susan works there?

Children’s Aid Society encourages “Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgendered” to foster children

From here.

But why are they at the end of the of the list: blatant discrimination.

The Christian, common-sense and scientific view that children are better off with with a mother and father rather than two fathers, two mothers or perverse mixtures thereof is obviously of limited interest to CAS, an organisation that appears to be more obsessed with obsequious political correctness than with caring for children.
