Windsor police to receive “Report Homophobic Violence” training

Windsor police will be taking mandatory training on homophobic violence. The training is designed to increase “empathy toward this particular community” – individuals who are, in any combination, one or more of the following: lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans-identified.

Since empathy entails entering into another’s personality, one wonders whether the Windsor Police Service is going to be encouraged to explore its inner gayness.

Read it all here:

The Windsor Police Service is pleased to announce a new training initiative for it’s employees to be undertaken in cooperation with EGALE Canada. EGALE Canada is a national organization committed to advancing equality and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-identified people and their families across Canada. Members of EGALE Canada have partnered with the Windsor Police Service and will be in Windsor over a five week period commencing on Wednesday January 12, 2011 in order to train all of the Service’s sworn and civilian employees.

The presentation entitled “Report Homophobic Violence Period” will provide further insight into some of the challenges the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-identified population face within our communities. The training will also assist all members of the Windsor Police Service to more readily distinguish between those crimes considered “Hate Related” or crimes of opportunity during our investigations. Chief Gary Smith explains “As a police service, we want to encourage members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-identified population to feel more comfortable in coming forward and reporting crimes committed either against them or within the community. This training will reinforce our knowledge of basic human rights and will increase our empathy toward this particular community within our society.” It should be noted that the Windsor Police Service is the first Police Agency in Canada to make this training mandatory for all of the Service’s employees.

There is, of course, nothing new in this: it has been a great success amongst the constabulary of North Wales. The Windsor Police Service could learn a thing or two about empathy from them:

Therapist faces being struck off for helping gay men go straight

From here:

A psychotherapist faces being struck off after trying to ‘convert’ a homosexual man.

Lesley Pilkington, 60, a  therapist for 20 years, is accused of ‘praying to God’ to ‘heal’ the patient .

Mrs Pilkington, will appear at a landmark disciplinary hearing this week where she faces being stripped of her accreditation to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The patient, a homosexual rights campaigner, secretly recorded her controversial treatment at two sessions before reporting her to the association.

A small group of counsellors believe all men are born heterosexual, but some choose a gay lifestyle which can be changed through therapy…….

She treated journalist Patrick Strudwick at her private practice based at her home in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, after he approached her at a Christian conference.

He recorded the sessions on a tape machine strapped to his stomach. Asked if she viewed homosexuality as a ‘mental illness, an addiction or an anit-religious phenomenon’, she replied: ‘It is all of that’.

In the disciplinary letter sent to her by BACP, she is accused of having an ‘agenda that homosexuality is wrong and that gay people can change and you allegedly attempted to inflict these views on him.’

Mrs Pilkington accused Strudwick of entrapment. She said: ‘He told me was looking for a treatment for being gay.

‘I told him I only work using a Christian biblical framework and he said that was exactly what he wanted.’

Her defence is being funded by the Christian Legal Centre which has instructed a leading religious rights barrister to fight the case.

This is preposterous. The therapist isn’t forcing gay men to come to her: no one is. If gay crusaders have their way, it will become illegal to help gay men who do want to change – and there are some – making it close to compulsory for someone with homosexual inclinations to act them out.

RCMP apologises to Christians for arresting them at Christmas

Hang on, that can’t be right; silly me, the RCMP apologised to Muslim terrorists for arresting them during Ramadan. Most inconsiderate.

From here:

On Aug. 25, the RCMP and Ottawa Police arrested two Ottawa men — Hiva Muhammad Alizadeh, Misbahuddin Ahmed — on terrorism-related charges. A third man, Khurram Syed Sher, was arrested elsewhere.

The next day, Aug. 26, the RCMP and city police staged a special, hour-long meeting with members of Ottawa’s Muslim community with the ostensible purpose of ensuring them that their community was not regarded with undue suspicion despite the arrests. However, at least one officer was heard apologizing during meeting for the arrests having occurred during Ramadan, which ran last year from Aug. 12 to Sept. 9.

Expunging Christianity from publicly funded Canadian institutions

From here:

After eliminating denominational education from schools, the Quebec government announced plans Friday to extend its ban on religious instruction to toddlers.

The new policy will make it illegal for workers in the province’s network of subsidized daycares to teach their charges, aged five and under, about a specific religion. Teaching religious songs, including many Christmas carols, will be off limits, as will crafts with a religious connotation. Government inspectors will enforce the rules beginning next June.

“I want the young Quebecers who attend our daycare services to do so in a spirit of openness to others and diversity,” Family Minister Yolande James said as she unveiled the changes in Montreal.

Not all religions are being expunged, however:  promoting a spirit of openness to others and diversity is itself an expression of religion, exhorting, as it does, submission to the contemporary pop-morality dogma that openness and diversity are, a priori, superior to their opposites.

Not a tame lion

Aslan, the lion in C. S. Lewis’s “The Narnia Chronicles”, is a Christ figure. As Mr. Tumnus points out, he’s not a tame lion which is more than can be said for the actor, Liam Add an ImageNeeson whose voice plays him. Neeson is only too tame when he grovels before the altar of political correctness by saying that Aslan also symbolises Mohammed and Buddha:

Ahead of the release of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader next Thursday, Neeson said: ‘Aslan symbolises a Christ-like figure but he also symbolises for me Mohammed, Buddha and all the great spiritual leaders and prophets over the centuries.

‘That’s who Aslan stands for as well as a mentor figure for kids – that’s what he means for me.’

Canadian school board wants to know about children’s sexual orientation

From here:

A former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau, once famously quipped: “The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.”

Unless, it would seem, the “nation” means schoolchildren ages 12-17, and the “state” is local school board bureaucrats and/or the provincial Ministry of Education.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (Ontario, Canada) plans to issue a survey which asks, among other things, for children to disclose their gender (four choices) and sexual orientation (nine choices). Proponents claim the survey is voluntary, but rather than requiring parental permission for the survey to be administered, the onus is on parents to opt out in writing (by Nov. 19), if they do not wish their child to participate.

Not surprisingly the survey, which runs Nov. 22 – Dec.10, has sparked controversy:

Some parents say the survey—which also asks about students’ religion, their ethnic backgrounds, who they live with at home, and their parents’ employment [and educational] status—is an invasion of privacy.

Although the survey is touted as being anonymous, each form is tagged with a code that can be traced back to the individual child, and, by extension, his or her family. Critics wonder what kind of inferences will be drawn, and who will have access to information that involves the cultural, religious, financial, and educational status of students’ parents.

The school board, predictably, claims that such delving into personal information is crucial, and ultimately for the students’ own good, so that the school can offer better anti-bullying and anti-homophobia programming.

For anyone wondering what the nine choices are for sexual orientation, they are:

Bisexual Gay (male); Heterosexual (straight); Lesbian (female); Queer Questioning; Transsexual; Two-spirited; Prefer not to disclose.

“Only nine?” I expect you are thinking; what about hermaphrodites, the androgynous, and necrophiliacs? As soon as I’ve finished this I will be writing to the Minister of Education to report this discrimination.

Which reminds me of an episode in Anthony Powell’s great novel series, A Dance to the Music of Time. Powell,  a comic novelist second only to Evelyn Waugh, tells us of the demise of Pamela who hated her husband and had a necrophiliac lover – who couldn’t perform, of course. In order to exact revenge on her husband, she committed suicide, leaving him with the anguish of both losing her for himself and to her lover.

That’s the trouble with school boards today: their narrow little world of “diversity” shows no imagination whatsoever.

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett apologises to the gay community

From here:

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett  apologized to the gay community Thursday after she referred to homosexuality as a “lifestyle choice” during a discussion about the wave of recent teen suicides.

“I meant no disrespect to the LGBT community, and I apologize to any who have taken offense at my poor choice of words,” Jarrett said in a written statement.

Perish the though of showing disrespect to anyone; that would never do.

Of course, by making this – undoubtedly, Inquisition-coerced – politically correct recantation, Valerie Jarrett has shown disrespect for those who have chosen to be gay and are proud of it.

All of which goes to show that anyone saying anything about anyone who is gay will sooner or later be made to regret it by the 21st century manners-nouveau Gestapo.
