Michael Curry’s sermon in Diocese of Rupert’s Land Pride Parade

All you need is love. Because love is the only way. Any kind of love. For anything or anyone. Anywhere, anyhow, any way you like it. Because love is the only way. And because Michael Curry said so in front of the queen. And because the Archbishop of Canterbury applauded along with every other half-witted bishop in the Western hemisphere.

Gay Pride march in Bratislava

As it turns out, I missed it. What a shame. However, I did see a counter demonstration by a “Pro Family” group. Here are two of them that I chatted with:

When I first spoke to them, I was unaware that the Pride march had just finished, so I didn’t know that theirs was a counter demonstration. They told me that they are not “against homosexuals” they were simple “for the traditional family”. I agreed.

Interestingly, those in  pro-family group were almost all young.

There were a lot of police around, including helicopter patrols; there were no confrontations, though.

Catholics to march in Ottawa Gay Pride parade

I knew Catholics could learn something from Anglicans.

From here:

You are invited to join the Capital Pride Parade on August 28th, 2011, at 1:00PM.

We march every year, because we want to tell the Pride Parade’s participants and viewers that it is possible to live in integrity as a person of faith, who is both gay and deeply spiritual.  We believe that there is a place for everybody at Christ’s table.

Please join us at the Pride Parade and help make this message heard. All people have the same gift of love to share! Following the march, at 2:00PM, the group invites participants to the St. Joe’s Supper Table (151 Laurier Street East) for light snacks and refreshments. This event is sponsored by the University of Ottawa’s Gay Catholics, Christians and Allies Group (GCCA).

Anglicans in the Vancouver Gay Pride Parade

Here is a video of the Anglican contribution to the Vancouver Gay Pride Parade:

Apparently it was “A magnificent demonstration of civility”.

It was also an exercise in Scripture mangling by people carrying signs saying, “no good thing will God withhold from those who walk with integrity” Ps 84:11. The organisation “Integrity” has high-jacked not only the word but the New English Version’s translation of what most others have as “walk uprightly”; since when did homosexual activity become a component of walking uprightly?

Further along we have a few brightly painted blokes sporting tea-shirts declaring themselves, presumably, to be “intrinsically good”, in spite of the general drift of Scripture, experience and common sense that says we are all intrinsically bad – so bad that we need a Saviour.

There is even a Rowan Williams doppelganger in there at 2:14.
