Justin Welby bows to Saudi Crown Prince

In this photo Welby may be pointing out to Mohammed bin Salman that his shoelace is undone; or warning him not to slip on a banana peel; or inviting the prince to inspect his head for lice.

Or he might have been bowing.

Welby is meeting with the Crown Prince to discuss Saudi Arabia’s “strong commitment to interfaith dialogue”, an idea so preposterous not even an ex oil executive whose scruples must have been numbed by the necessity of buying oil from an odious oligarchy should take it seriously. The country renowned for beating critics of its leaders practically to death, that practices the most barbaric excesses of sharia law, that mutilates women because it is “noble”, has no Christian churches. None. Saudi Arabia is an Islamic theocracy, a nasty, brutish, despotism which does not tolerate the public practice of other religions. There is no “interfaith” because there are no other state tolerated faiths.

In other news, next week Justin Welby will be meeting with Satan to foster reconciliation, begin interfaith dialogue, and persuade him to turn down the temperature in hell.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a private meeting Thursday with Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, where he made a “strong commitment” to interfaith dialogue, the archbishop’s office said.

During the hour-long visit at Lambeth Palace, the pair discussed the crown prince’s reform plans and Welby — the head of the Anglican church — expressed his concerns about the treatment of Christians in Saudi Arabia.

“The Crown Prince made a strong commitment to promote the flourishing of those of different faith traditions, and to interfaith dialogue within the Kingdom and beyond,” the archbishop’s office said in a statement.

“The archbishop shared his concern about limits placed on Christian worship in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and highlighted the importance for leaders of all faiths to support freedom of religion or belief, drawing on the experience of the UK.”

The woman in this video was accused of adultery, a character flaw which is un-Islamic.

It seems her public execution is Islamic, though, although there is some disagreement about how Islamic.

A fine application of Matthew 7:16.

Christianity disapproves of adultery, too, of course, but in Christ there is forgiveness for all who seek it – even the cowardly, murdering, Islamic thugs in the video.

It’s been a turbulent 10 years for the outgoing Archbishop of Canterbury.

Only recently he has had to fight to maintain unity within the Anglican community amid rows over the contentious issue of women bishops.

And in the past he has come under fire for comments made on a number of controversial topics, including sharia law.

Cheerio, Rowan. I’ll miss the beard, the eyebrows, your wisdom on how well sharia law would fit into British life, your denouncing of evil bankers, the failure of capitalism, the jewels to be found in the inner depths of Marxism, your heroic Hegelian striving to find a happy medium between truth and lies and your virtuoso performance in taking the public position you did on human sexuality while privately believing the opposite. I expect your successor will continue much of your good work, so it only remains for me to say:

Muslims swell the ranks of the Democratic National Convention

As the article below notes, God was not mentioned at the DNC this year; at the next convention I expect Allah will be invoked instead.

It seems that Muslims may have stayed away from the Republican National Convention because of its anti-Sharia position. The Muslim perception of the Democratic Party must, presumably, be that it is not anti-Sharia; perhaps it is even pro-Sharia.

Welcome to Hope and Change 2012: polygamy; prohibition; criminalisation of homosexuality; dhimmitude; the death penalty for apostates and rape victims – and no bacon sarnies.

The word “God” may have been absent at the Democratic National Convention, but there were record numbers of Muslim delegates present at the Charlotte, N.C., meeting.

According to a news release from the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the convention hosted more than 100 Muslim delegates from 20 states—up from 43 Muslim and Arab-American delegates at the 2008 convention and 25 four years before.

“The more than doubling of Muslim delegates at this year’s Democratic National Convention is a direct result of their hard work and grassroots organizing within the Democratic Party,” said CAIR’s government affairs coordinator, Robert McCaw. “It is also a sign of the American Muslim community’s growing civic engagement and acceptance in the Democratic Party.”

McCaw noted that only a handful of Muslim delegates attended this year’s Republican National Convention (RNC), during which the RNC adopted an anti-Sharia platform plank targeting the religious practices of Muslims. CAIR has asked the party to reject this policy.

Sharia Law being taught in British Schools

British children are being taught brutal Sharia Law in weekend schools across the country.

Text books ask pupils to list the “reprehensible” qualities of Jews, and teach how to chop off the hands and feet of thieves.

Around 5,000 Muslim children, aged six to 18, attend more than 40 weekend schools which teach the Saudi national curriculum.

As Rowan Williams noted in 2008, Sharia law in the UK is “unavoidable” and “would help maintain social cohesion”. At least he got the first part right.
