Paedophilia is a ‘sexual orientation’

From here:

In a recent parliamentary session on a bill relating to sexual offenses against children, psychology experts claimed that pedophilia is a “sexual orientation” comparable to homosexuality or heterosexuality, a definition that was questioned by one Member of Parliament who was present.

Bill C-54, an Act to Amend the Criminal Code, seeks to increase or impose mandatory minimum penalties or punishment on sexual offenders of children for particular crimes.

Parliamentary discussion on February 14 centered on the mandatory minimum imprisonment and how offenders respond to treatment.  Dr. Vernon Quinsey and Dr. Hubert Van Gijseghem, experts on the issue, were called to witness.

“When we speak of therapy or when individuals get therapy and we feel as though everyone is pacified, the good news is often illusory,” said Van Gijseghem, psychologist and retired professor of the University of Montreal.

“Pedophiles are not simply people who commit a small offence from time to time but rather are grappling with what is equivalent to a sexual orientation just like another individual may be grappling with heterosexuality or even homosexuality,” emphasized Van Gijseghem.

Although this opinion was voiced sooner than expected, I knew it was only a matter of time.

Making paedophilia a sexual orientation prepares the ground for the next step: declaring that the impulse to have sex with children is a morally neutral one.

Since no sane moral framework would ever condone the active expression of a paedophile’s impulse, it’s difficult to see the impulse itself as anything other than wrong.

The same could be said for homosexual inclinations, of course, and that is why the Anglican Church has laboured mightily to convince its flock that there is at least one outlet for homosexual activity that is not wrong: a monogamous, civilly married same-sex partnership.

The Anglican Church of Canada is green, soon to be smelly

From here:

The Partners in Mission and the Ecojustice of General Synod invites you to become green leaders in the Church through the renewal of spirit, community, and creation, and by taking practical steps to green your church building.

This means that ACoC parishes will be installing low-flow toilets resulting in a physical stink to match the spiritual one. It’s called Ecojustice.

San Francisco’s big push for low-flow toilets has turned into a multimillion-dollar plumbing stink.

Skimping on toilet water has resulted in more sludge backing up inside the sewer pipes, said Tyrone Jue, spokesman for the city Public Utilities Commission. That has created a rotten-egg stench near AT&T Park and elsewhere, especially during the dry summer months.

Waking up the latent ability in Anglicans

Rev. Derek Dunwoody, a retired Anglican priest from Calgary, has the answer for all that ails the Anglican Church of Canada: toss out the “restrictive” historic creeds which represented a “doctrine controlled corporation with a top-down management style in which the expression of compassion was an uncommon experience” and replace them with what Jesus was really getting at. You must:

Wake up the latent ability within you to live into the awareness of the presence of the Compassionate Holy Mystery in your hearts and let it flow out from you into all of humanity.

The same Rev. Dunwoody, in April 2010, wrote that original sin is an outdated concept and that the God of the Bible is “capricious, petty and easily offended”.

If you want to see if the article awakens anything within you other than a headache and mild nausea, Dunwoody’s spiritualised Anthony Robbins formula for successful churches is here on page 7.

Rowan Williams won’t allow homosexual marriage in church

From here:

Dr Rowan Williams has refused to be drawn on the issue publicly, but has broken his silence to tell MPs he is not prepared for the Coalition to tell the Church how to behave.

He told a private meeting of influential politicians that the Church of England would not bow to public pressure to allow its buildings to be used to conduct same-sex civil partnerships.

It’s hard to know what is going on in Rowan Williams’ erudite Hegelian head at the best of times and, for him, this is not the best of times. Why would an archbishop who has written that, in his view, homosexual relationships are comparable to marriage not allow such marriage in his church?

Not, presumably, because of personal conviction, but because he is committed, in his own potty way, to holding the Anglican Communion together, whatever it takes. So, in order to convince conservatives that they still have his ear, it’s the liberals’ turn to take a poke in the eye – for unity.

Or perhaps he suffers from that most debilitating of contemporary liberal malaises, the lack of clear categories to organise his thinking, making it impossible for him to have straightforward answers to difficult questions – resulting in an inability to take a side.

Doctors claim abortion is safer than having a baby

From here:

Pregnant women should be told that having an abortion is safer than having the baby, according to medical chiefs.

The advice, which would be given to women considering terminations, has caused anger, with anti-abortion campaigners accusing doctors’ leaders of forcing an “absurdly liberal agenda” on women in a vulnerable situation.

The draft guidance from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is for all doctors, nurses and counsellors advising women contemplating terminations.

Of course, there is a 100% fatality rate for the babies.

Racist Rhyming Resistor Reprimand

From here:

A teacher has been reprimanded for communicating a racist and sexual rhyme while teaching a pupil at a Sussex school.

James Hersey, 68, was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct by the General Teaching Council.

The hearing heard he was teaching electronics to a Year 11 pupil at Oriel High School in Crawley when the incident happened in March last year.

Mr Hersey said he was a caring teacher who had made a mistake.

The disciplinary hearing was told Mr Hersey was teaching a student a rhyme to help remember the sequence for the colour coding of resistors.

Yet more barmy political correctness. I remember learning a number of these rhymes when I was young; I’m sure everyone is dying to know what they are:

Boys better remember our young girls become very good wives
Bad boys rape our young girls behind victory garden walls.
Bad boys run our young girls behind victory garden walls.
Bad boys rape our young girls but Violet gives willingly.
Black boys rape our young girls but Violet gives willingly.
Black Boys Ravish Only Young Girls But Violet Gives Willingly
Bright Boys Rave Over Young Girls But Veto Getting Wed.
Bad Beer Rots Our Young Guts But Vodka Goes Well
Bad Boys Rape  Our Young  Girls  But  Virgins Go Without
Big boys race our young girls but Violet generally wins.

Bye Bye Rosie Off You Go Bristol Via Great Western
Bye Bye Rosie Off You Go But Via Great Western

Some Saturday absurdities

Last week, a UN Security Council resolution censuring Israel narrowly escaped passage by virtue of a hesitant veto by the United States – a veto roundly condemned by the World Council of Churches. At the same time, for murdering thousands of his own people, Libya’s lunatic despot, Muammar Gaddafi earned the stern reproach from the UN’s Secretary General: “This is Not Acceptable” and Libya retained its seat on the UN Human Rights Council; the WCC expressed little condemnation but “deep concern about disturbing reports”; Fred Hiltz offered prayers.

We can rest assured that the US military is prepared to deal with what promises to become Middle East mayhem: it is giving its troops gay sensitivity training while on the battlefield. This makes us all so much safer.

Millions of Muslim refugees will undoubtedly flood into Europe and Canada encouraged, in the latter case, by the Anglican Church which is exploring this new avenue of hastening its own demise.

Western Anglicans are predictably upset about the revoking of the bishop of Jerusalem’s – Rev. Suheil Dawani – permit to remain in Israel. I met the bishop when he was in Canada for the ACoC general synod. He is more in favour of “dialogue” with Muslims than in their evangelisation and, therefore, by Canadian standards a true Anglican; he obviously deserves to be an Israeli citizen even though he wasn’t born there.

On a saner note, a Toronto man was surprised to be hit in the head when he peered over the edge of the platform as a train arrived. He wasn’t badly hurt.

March for Life Canada Expects Biggest Turnout Ever

From here:

The organizer of Canada’s National March For Life, Campaign Life Coalition, is predicting that, with the help of a massive turnout from Ottawa area Catholic schools, 20,000 people will participate in this year’s annual pro-life march on May 13th, 2010……..

This year’s National March for Life theme is “Abortion – a Crime Against Humanity.” Events will begin on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, with the march beginning with a gathering on Parliament Hill at noon on Thursday, May 13, 2010, followed by the Youth Conference on Friday May 14.

But will the mainstream media notice?

The Diocese of Niagara continues its ministry: closing orthodox churches

While the Diocese of Niagara attempts to gain possession of ANiC church buildings for which it has no use other than to line its coffers, it continues to disestablish orthodox parishes – for which it has no use, other than to line its coffers.

From here:

Why was All Saints closed?

All Saints church in Niagara Falls retained the traditional, orthodox faith in the Trinity and the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. It was a small, but growing congregation, having doubled its membership under a priest who provided the Gospel message, was faithful in pastoral care and attracted young families with their children.

With the closing of All Saints, the sale of its parish hall, plus the acquisition of All Saints trust funds, the Diocese of Niagara gleaned more than $480,000.

In 2007, the congregation of All Saints was given only a two-day notice that the church was to be closed in one month’s time. The congregation, due to the church’s vitality, was taken by shock.

Niagara Falls was informed the diocese wished to remove the 150-year-old oak pews despite the fact that a promise had been made to allow weddings and funerals to take place at All Saints. In response to the huge outcry from the citizens of Niagara Falls, through a petition to protect the unique interior and exterior of the building, the bishop met with representatives of the congregation. But nothing changed.

For the next two years, the congregation tried to persuade the diocese to allow them to return and finally offering to buy the church they had so faithfully looked after for 150 years for ministry and service. Every request to the diocese was rejected. Thankfully, a local church offered their premises and Anglican priests provided a service of communion one Sunday afternoon per month. When the congregation wished to meet more often, the devoted divided between a local church and a St. Catharines church that provided the faith of the founding fathers following the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Many former congregants of All Saints still meet on a regular basis and provide significant outreach both locally and globally. Their faith is a continuum that is remarkable. Of course, it has been an extremely unfortunate time for the faithful of this historic landmark, but prayerfully it will continue to serve and be a reminder of God’s presence in our city of Niagara Falls.
