Cross in Oakville senior citizen residence chapel replaced with something else

As I wrote here, the cross in the Oakville Senior Citizen Residence chapel was removed so as not to offend non-Christians.

It has been replaced with an arrow pointing to Mecca.

Last month, remove the cross; this month add an arrow to Mecca; next month build a minaret on the roof? Did I mention that Bishop Michael Bird’s wife, Susan works there?

Video of baby Joseph Maraachli being "vegetative"

This is the baby that hospital doctors claim is in a completely unresponsive vegetative state; they want to remove his breathing tube, effectively killing him.

Are the doctors blind, half-witted, looking at the wrong baby or are they penny-pinching to the point of infanticide?

More here:

LONDON, Ontario, February 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Dying one-year-old Joseph Maraachli’s family says two new videos of him flailing and reacting to tickling belie his hospital’s claim that he is in a permanent vegetative state.

The video of Joseph being tickled, which was shot Sunday evening only hours before the hospital had planned to remove his life support, also shows Joseph’s hands tied down – a measure the hospital took after Joseph removed the tube from his throat on at least two separate occasions.

“How can a baby be in a vegetative state who has his hands tied – as we speak – for him to not pull out his tube?” asked Joseph’s aunt, Samar Nader.  “How does a baby in a vegetative state respond to combing or tickling?”

“What really boggles my mind is how we’re not allowed to videotape him or have media outlets watching him to show the public what he’s like,” she added.  “That’s very frustrating.”

Episcopal Church does Lenten series on Islam

From here:

Islam is the second largest religion in the world — and the fastest growing — yet few Americans know anything about it.

That, according to the Rev. Peter Whalen of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer and pastor Kent Lewis of Christ Lutheran Church, could be a grave error, and the root of future misunderstanding.

Together, the two churches will be hosting a five-week class about the religion every Wednesday night during Lent except Ash Wednesday. The first class will be March 16, beginning at 7 p.m. at Church of the Redeemer.

And why not? The Episcopal Church has misrepresented Christianity long enough; it’s time for Islam to have a turn.

Hospital still threatening to remove baby Joseph’s life support

This isn’t getting any better:

LONDON, Ontario, February 22, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – While things were looking up for the parents of Joseph Maraachli this past weekend, the picture has now become bleaker. In the latest twist in the case the London hospital where their dying son is being cared for is seeking to remove the parents’ decision-making power after they refused to have him taken off life support. Hospital security is also denying them private visitations.

Alex Schadenberg, executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, which has been offering support to the parents, Moe Maraachli and Sana Nader, says they are now only allowed to see their son with a security guard present.

“They fight my family. … they put security for me.  They never give me private to pray with my son,” Moe told Fox News this afternoon.

“Security watch me and security stay with me,” he added.  “When I go to hospital I feel I am not in Canada.  I feel I’m in jail or they kidnapped my baby.”

“It’s ridiculous.  It’s not like they could pick the child up and take him home.  The baby would die,” said Schadenberg.

Schadenberg said that Moe tried to bring him in to see Joseph on Monday, but security denied him access to the room, and told him to leave the premises.  “It’s become crazy.  The hospital’s going overboard and it makes no sense,” he said.

The longer it goes on, the more it resembles a Kafkaesque nightmare created by unfeeling hospital apparatchiks.

Christchurch Cathedral, New Zealand, destroyed by two earthquakes

From here:

New Zealand’s second biggest city Christchurch has been hit by devastation after a major earthquake struck during the busy lunch break today.

Police said ‘multiple fatalities’ were expected and many people were trapped under the rubble after buildings and homes collapsed in the city centre.

The city was being evacuated amid fears that more buildings would come down and fires were breaking out.

Dozens of buildings have crashed down and roads have broken open as the quake ripped through the stricken city. The famous cathedral in the city centre has been destroyed.

The bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch is Victoria Matthews, a product of Wycliffe College Toronto and, at one time, in line to be Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada. Although Matthews is supposedly theologically conservative, at the 2007 synod  she voted in favour of a resolution acknowledging that “the blessing of same-sex unions is not in conflict with the core doctrine of the Anglican Church of Canada”. Yet she voted against permitting same-sex blessings, encouraging a contradiction both within her church and her convictions.

The destruction of Christchurch Cathedral by an earthquake brings to mind another – what we used to call – act of God.

David Jenkins (not me – really), bishop of Durham was infamous for disbelieving in Jesus’ bodily resurrection; he called it “a conjuring trick with bones”. Naturally, he became one of the first clergymen in the Church of England to bless a civil partnership between two homosexual men, one of whom was a vicar. He was consecrated at York Minster; three days later, York Minster was struck by lightning, resulting in a catastrophic fire. Rumour has it that the sky was clear that night, and nobody heard any thunder – but there were reports of  a “sword-like stab of fire” descending from above.

Another act of God? Hard to say, but if I were Michael Ingham, I’d move to the basement.

Teacher attacked for teaching other religions to Muslim girls

From here:

Four men launched a horrific attack on a teacher in which they slashed his face and left him with a fractured skull because they did not approve of him teaching religion to Muslim girls.

Akmol Hussein, 26, Sheikh Rashid, 27, Azad Hussain, 25, and Simon Alam, 19, attacked Gary Smith with a Stanley knife, an iron rod and a block of cement.

Mr Smith, who is head of religious education at Central Foundation Girls’ School in Bow, east London, also suffered a fractured skull.

The four now face a jail sentence.

Detectives made secret recordings of the gang’s plot to attack Mr Smith prior to the brutal assault.

The covert audio probe captured the gang condemning Mr Smith for ‘teaching other religions to our sisters’, the court heard.

The RE teacher was targeted as he made his way on foot along Burdett Road in nearby Mile End on July 12 last year, Snaresbrook Crown Court was told.

Prosecutor Sarah Whitehouse told the court: ‘The evidence from what was said on the probe points overwhelmingly to a religious motive for this attack.’

We have a cornucopia of assorted crimes that have been deemed “hate crimes” because the victim falls into a select category : there are, among others, hate crimes against Muslims, hate crimes against homosexuals, racial hate crimes and hate crimes against women. I notice that this particular thoroughly hate filled incident against a member of that most ridiculed minority – school Religious Education instructors – is not described as a hate crime. Does anyone doubt that if the teacher had been a Muslim and the criminals Christians or, even worse, Jews, we would have seen “Hate Crime” blaring from every headline?

Loony Muslim cleric coming to the US to agitate for sharia law

From here:

A hardline Muslim cleric who sparked anger across the U.S. with his anti-American comments in a television interview this month is to hold a protest outside the White House.

British extremist Anjem Choudary – who once said ‘the flag of Islam will fly over the White House’ – has announced he will lead a demonstration calling on Muslims to establish the Sharia law across America.

The rally, planned for March 3, is to take place just weeks after his on-screen row with Fox News presenter Sean Hannity.

Mr Choudary, 43, called Americans ‘the biggest criminals in the world today.’

Anjem Choudary has the dubious distinction of being one of the few people to be dismissed as a ‘sick, miserable, evil S.O.B’ at the end of a TV interview.

Whether Choudary and his henchmen will be allowed into the US to peddle Islamism is in doubt.

What is in no doubt at all – other than the accuracy of the above epithets – is that, if Choudary had his way, he would not allow any criticism of sharia law, let alone demonstrations against it.

Here is the Hannity interview:

If I Ruled the World by Hackphlegm Imadinnerjacket

If I ruled the world, every day would be a gloomy kind of thing,
This would be the only song that you could sing.
And we’d stone you if you have a little fling.

If I ruled the world, every beard would be big enough for nesting birds,
Every voice would be suppressed, never heard,
Take my word, you would hate each day that occurred.

My world would be a sharia place,
Where burglars would lose their extremities.
My world would cover every beautiful face
With a sack that comes right down to your knees.

If I ruled the world, I would drive each person around the bend.
There’d be jihad that no man could end,
No my friend, not if I ruled the world.
Every head would be held up high
On a pole: gays would be the first to die.
If the day ever dawned when I ruled the world.
