Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island will ignore Marriage Canon vote

From here:

The Anglican archbishop for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island has declared he would perform same-sex marriages and permit other churches in his diocese to do the same.

Archbishop Ron Cutler’s declaration comes after the church’s national body narrowly voted not to recognize same-sex marriages late last week.

“There is, I think, a majority of people within the diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island who are in favour of widening our understanding of marriage to include people in the LGBTQ2+ community,” Cutler told CBC’s Mainstreet on Monday.

Cutler, who spoke during a phone interview from Vancouver, said there were “cries of anguish” followed by “three or four minutes of stunned silenced” following the vote.

I’m waiting for a diocese to announce that it will honour the vote, although it’s possible that those who will (the Arctic, for example) might just keep quiet about it.

  1. The actions of these so-called bishops but more correctly called APOSTATES show they have absolutely no recognition of the authority of SCRIPTURE with their only desire to appear good within their community. I can only ask when are the true CHRISTIANS – if there are any left within the now APOSTATE CHURCH OF CANADA. The authority of Scripture clearly surpasses the actions of these apostates.

  2. Thanks, David, for your continued posts about the disarray in the AC of C. You are correct, the hyped up vote for the last three years has been a gigantic farce. It makes my leaving the Anglican church last October, after 63 years, seem anti climactic! What a joke, each Bishop just doing whatever they feel like. They were merely pretending to need the “stamp” of legitimacy, …but who cares, we’ll just go ahead anyway. I love your blog!

  3. Was not this the same Diocese that under a faithless act of subterfuge at General Synod in Ottawa, exposed by objecting Clergy in the September 2013 ‘Anglican Journal’, initiated this anti-Scriptural business on the recommendation of a mere student for the Priesthood (NS) and a complicit Lay Commissioner (PEI)?
    All with the Blessing of the Incumbent Primate.
    + “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means;
    and My People love to have it so:
    and what will ye do in the end thereof?
    Behold, The WORD of The LORD is unto them a reproach;
    they have no delight in it.” + Jeremiah chs. 5, 6, 7. 8.

  4. OK, repercussions are pending for a great many dioceses ‘to go their own way’ following this synod. There will soon be no “glue” spiritually or ecclesially, to hold this renegade church together.

    So what have you got left? 4 years? 8 years?
    Based upon what is occurring now, you have emotionally incontinent children, abdicating adults, and renegade bishops.

    Have fun with that.
