Fred Hiltz meets the Pope

Along with Justin Welby, Fred Hiltz met the Pope recently to discuss unity between Anglicans and Catholics. It’s odd that Hiltz felt he needed to travel 7000kms to talk about a “united witness to the gospel” when he could have taken the GO train 30kms to talk about the same thing with Anglican Network in Canada leaders.

From here:

“The unity of the church is not for the church itself, and if it is, we might as well stop talking,” Hiltz said in an interview. “The unity of the church has to be in the interest of a common and faithful and united witness to the gospel, and the gospel is clearly for the world.”

For further confirmation that the whole exercise was little more than a posturing sham, we need look no further than the fact that the latest divisive antics of the ACoC were not even discussed:

For example, the Anglican Church of Canada’s move toward solemnizing the marriages of same-sex couples puts it at odds with Roman Catholic teachings on marriage. However, Hiltz said it was not an issue that came up for him or for any of the leaders of provinces that have made similar decisions.

“There was no kind of public calling into question the integrity of the Canadian church, or The Episcopal Church, or the Scottish Episcopal Church,” he said. “The focus was elsewhere.”

  1. There has never been more hollow words than those of Fred Hiltz. If he was generally interested in both the unity of the Church and upholding the Gospel he would never have allowed the dioceses within the ACoC to not only evict true orthodox Christians but also to legally steal properties for which some of the dioceses made no contribution. Further, he would resign his position until he made a complete denouncement of his disdain for the authority of Scripture and his worship of “political correctness’ – a term that is as dishonest as the apostates that worship it. I trust the Pope will see through this “smoke screen”.

    • I trust the Pope is fully aware of the Anglican sham. I wonder what larger plan he is walking-through. This, and the GS6 occurring together? Head-scratching.

      • Certainly you must be aware of the actions taken in both the diocese of New Westminster and Niagara. Under the apostate Michael Ingham’s direction the property of Saint Matthew’s was legally stolen and our orthodox clergy and true orthodox parishioners were ordered off the property. This was not only clearly known by Fred Hiltz but had his full support. The ACoC is no longer Christian regardless of any symbols they might show outwardly to deceive true Christians.

    • They probably should. The Anglican Church has been doing a great favour to the Catholics as it is by drawing out many of the disaffected liberals and thus diluting the lobby from that demographic…
