Bishop Kevin Robertson’s spouse will not be invited to Lambeth 2020

The spouses of homosexual bishops will not be invited to attend Lambeth 2020 which means Toronto Bishop Kevin Robertson’s wife/husband, Mohan Sharma, will not receive an invitation.

I wonder whether Justin Welby has really thought this through. It’s only a matter of time before a male Anglican bishop marries another male Anglican bishop. I suspect the Anglican Church of Canada already has a matchmaking Task Force working strenuously to produce such a paradigm of proud diverse inclusion. What will Welby do when they succeed?

From here:

I need to clarify a misunderstanding that has arisen. Invitations have been sent to every active bishop. That is how it should be – we are recognising that all those consecrated into the office of bishop should be able to attend. But the invitation process has also needed to take account of the Anglican Communion’s position on marriage which is that it is the lifelong union of a man and a woman. That is the position as set out in Resolution I.10 of the 1998 Lambeth Conference. Given this, it would be inappropriate for same-sex spouses to be invited to the conference. The Archbishop of Canterbury has had a series of private conversations by phone or by exchanges of letter with the few individuals to whom this applies.

  1. The action of inviting the so-called bishop is a clear indication that the ABC has chosen to worship the “god of political expediency”. By not inviting the so-called spouse is solely designed to divert attention from this matter. They might all be called bishop but their allegiance is definitely NOT to our Lord and Saviour.

    • I’m not quite sure about that. The questionable part of the man’s being a bishop is the dishonest procedure by which he got elected; but elected he was, and it’s not for the ABC to dispute that. That he’s an immoralist and still got elected must be laid at the door of the people in Toronto interested in promoting vice.

It’s a very long time since the ACoC in the shape of its HoB first failed to discipline bishops who taught and/or practised immorality. Collectively they winked at this evil, when it could have been nipped in the bud. You should see in what terms my late spouse and I were writing to that HoB decades ago, without effect. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

      • How any of the so-called bishops were elected is really not the issue. The fact is that they have personally chosen to worship the “god of political expediency” and by doing so have, in essence, denounced the vows they first took at their ordination and again at their consecration. They are, therefore, NOT bishops in the correct term as far as the church is concerned.

  2. I confess myself confused by the pic that accompanies this report. Just who is married to whom? Has the lady bishop committed bigamy, thus two not invited to Lambeth? Surely not the two guys wearing football scarves? Bishops? Really?

    • Bishop Kevin Robertson is on the left, Mohan Sharma ( a layman) is on the right, both wearing scarves. They were married.

Bishop Susan Bell is in the middle. She officiated at the marriage and is the Diocese of Niagara’s bishop. Why she did the marrying is anyone’s guess; perhaps she was making an ecclesiastical/political point.

Sharma is not invited because he is causing Robertson to live contrary to Lambeth Resolution I.10.

Robertson and Bell are invited to Lambeth 2020 even though Robertson is the cleric living contrary to Resolution I.10 and Bell is the facilitator of the contrary living. Don’t bother to point out that this makes no sense: it’s Anglican Fudge and isn’t supposed to make sense.
