Anglicans fleeing the vortex of negativity

A recent report on the catastrophic decline in the Anglican Church of Canada should not draw Canadian Anglicans into a “vortex of negativity”, says the new Primate, Linda Nicholls:

Nicholls said she hoped that instead of trying to figure out why the church was in numerical decline, or get drawn into a “vortex of negativity” about it, Canadian Anglicans would instead focus on the church’s calling.

“We’re called to do and be God’s people in a particular place, for the purpose of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, and the only question is, ‘How do we need to share it, so that it might be heard by those around us?’” she said.

You might be surprised to learn that I agree with Nicholls: the answer is the Good News of Jesus Christ. The only problem is, there is little evidence to suggest that Nicholls knows what the Good News is or if she does, is prepared to state it unambiguously.

Her predecessor, Fred Hiltz, was unable – or unwilling – to do so.

Listen to this:

The real vortex of negativity from which we must flee is the Anglican Church of Canada itself.

  1. As long as the ACoC continues to have a Primate and/or bishops that believe their word is superior to THE WORD the ACoC will continue in its fall into apostasy. The only hope for the ACoC is for these apostates to make a public confession and repentance and return to the TRUTH and then they would be in a position to present the GOSPEL. Only then will they be considered TRUE leaders within the Christian Church.

The laity would be wise to discontinue ALL contributions to the church until such action is taken by these apostates.

  2. Well, no one can deny that what’s happening is very clear. But as long as people continue to invent their preferred explanations, it’s going to be impossible to have a real conversation about what’s needed: denominational repentance.

  3. Jesus said, ‘If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me.’ If Jesus were lifted up in the Anglican Church I believe the church would be full, not a seat to be found, bursting at the seams.

Who wants to get up, and go to church on Sunday morning, just to hear more of the same, tired old platitudes about how we need to be relevant, or as they say in UK, woke.
Jesus Christ, the same, yesterday, today, forever.

Jesus never had the benefit of a university education, yet He is more relevant than ever in today’s dark and frankly alarming world.

Jesus is the light of the world and the darkness can never extinguish it.
