Who cares who’s right? The entertainingly comedic enlightenment on the human condition is all revealed in the sploggal; it was the same in the Sopranos.
This long-standing feud between these two self-declared orthodox blogs is an embarrassment to all of us working for the truth of the Gospel within North American Anglicanism.
What is needed is pastoral intervention to achieve reconciliation.
Not only is Virtue wrong for writing such crude vitriol, StandFirm is equally wrong for publishing it.
To Virtue I’d recommend Matthew 5: 21&22 (“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.)
To StandFirm, I’d ask they consider 1 Peter 4:8 (“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”) Far better for StandFirm to have deal quietly and directly with Virtue rather than to publish for all to see.
To both, see Philippians 4: 2&3 (“I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.”) Such behaviour by fellow labourers in the gospel should cause us all deep embarrassment. It certainly discredits the good work done by both blogs.
Are there no “true companions” of St Paul (and all those working for the Gospel) willing and able to work towards reconciliation instead of giving further exposure to this folly?
No kidding. I stopped reading SF last year when I got raked over the coals (by one of the bloggers) for holding left wing political views and saying so. I wandered over there today and found this thread, which confirmed my decision not to read it anymore. This feud really is an embarassment.
