Since the demise of Christopher Hitchens, Ingham is surely now the least qualified candidate to lecture on matters Christian; Luther College must be a strange place.

You raise an interesting point. Was Mr. Ingham invited by the Diocesan Bishop in who’s Diocese he will be speaking? If not, than is isn’t this a cross border intervention?
A bishop who is known best for lawsuits at a college originally founded by and for Christians which makes no mention of Christianity on the “about” page.
