  1. This cartoon is in sharp juxtapostion to one of the questions we discussed in Sunday School this morning:

How do you think Satan is using the current political and economic situation to divide people? What symptoms do you see? (Cf. Gal. 5:20 and 2 Cor. 12:20.):

1.To divide our communities and country

2.To divide the Body of Christ (i.e. believers)

The leader was part of a Christian ministry in the Former Yugoslavia in the mid 90s and related how rhetoric led to much violence in that part of the world.

  2. Stuart, I copied and pasted directly from the PowerPoint slide. Bear in mind that when I say “Sunday School” I’m talking about adult fellowship groups that meet on Sunday Mornings. My church, which has about 1400 members, has a 9:00 am and 10:30 am service. During each time block, there are several fellowship groups that also meet. If you were thinking children, I agree that these kind of questions would be a little heady.

  3. Thanks I did wonder, I imagined these questions being posed to a little group of 7 years olds and thought goodness me things are different to the UK 🙂

  4. I have seen on other blogs people stating that this cartoon is “racist”. That both Obama and Liberty are depicted in their actual “colours” is somehow “racist”? Would these people think that it would not be “racist” to depict Obama in some other “colour”, perhaps green making him and Liberty the same “race”. Or would they scream “racist” even louder?

  5. “I have seen on other blogs people stating that this cartoon is “racist”.” – Crying “racism!” is just the standard, mindless name-calling (one can hardly call it a “defence”), that some people indulge in, who won’t/can’t face the issues; reason is beyond them. With a far-left anti-democratic president, who was white (there could be one sometime), they’d have to risk thinking about things.
