Diocese of Western Newfoundland to ignore marriage canon vote

The Diocese of Western Newfoundland is the latest diocese to announce that it will proceed with same-sex marriages.

Here is an updated list of dioceses that will marry same-sex couples:
Diocese of Western Newfoundland
Diocese of New Westminster
Diocese of Toronto
Diocese of Niagara
Diocese of Montreal
Diocese of Ottawa
Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
Diocese of Rupert’s Land
Diocese of Kootenay
Diocese of Edmonton
Diocese of B.C.
Diocese of Huron

From here:

The vote for the Diocese of Western Newfoundland to move forward with same-sex marriages came in at around 94 per cent in favour of during a special synod meeting.

Cynthia Haines-Turner, a lay person in the Anglican church, said it was an amazing moment when so many people stood up to cast their vote during the special synod.

“It was really quite powerful,” Haines-Turner said.

“We don’t want to be putting up barriers. So what I hope for our diocese and the people of western Newfoundland is that it will be kind of a healing action that we’re taking.”

Now the barriers are down, no doubt churches will be filled with rainbow congregants. Either that or the diocese will initiate a task force to scour Newfoundland for willing same-sex attracted couples to justify its decision.

  1. Yes, as Haines-Turner is said to have reported, it is quite powerful – a real victory for SATAN and his cohorts. I had sincerely believed that the Christian Anglicans in Newfoundland would have taken a stand for the GOSPEL but clearly they have decided to fall in line with the APOSTATES and ignore the direct teachings of Scripture.

  2. 94 per cent was a huge majority. But, if 99.9 per cent of the people vote to commit a mass suicide at the waterfront, this will not automatically mean that it is a wise decision to do so.

  3. Generally speaking the LGBT++ crowd do not go to church, that is any church.
There is the Metropolitan Community Church MCC but they now exist in only two cities Windsor and Toronto, Windsor less than 10 attending.
It must be the LGBT++ clergy that are pushing all of this because the person in the pew certainly is not pushing this.
Since the Synod and the betrayal of the outcome by the rogue dioceses, the congregation at the church that I attend has gone way down, the church is now maybe one-third filled yesterday on Sunday.
In the smaller towns and cities the congregants have fled to the Community Churches, every town now has one, the Anglicans are having to close out and that is the very history of Upper Canada, the Anglican churches everywhere in Ontario anyway. This is a betrayal of our faith and of our history, all of this socialism and Marxism and turning away from orthodoxy, the Holy Bible and holy tradition. What is the purpose of all of this, the people in the pews do not benefit from all of this nonsense.

  4. So not to be found a half-hour behind the anti-Scriptural progressive epicenter in Halifax (2013 General Synod surprise Resolution C003 grace a “What is an aspiring minister to do when the authority of the church calls her to go against the dictates of her conscience?” Diocese Nova Scotia-PEI Resolution C003 (re. marriage Canon):
    v.”Resolution C003:The Inside Story”, p.9, ‘Anglican Journal’, June, 2016 :
    Then,
“Are our words more than tokens?” Bishop Ron Cutler, NS-PEI, ‘Diocesan Times’, p. 3, October, 2019.
Or, in Newfieese, “Stay where you’re to and I’ll come where you’re at.”
That makes for a lot of “seared conscience” for a “good Minister of Jesus Christ”
    + I Timothy, ch. 4.
