The Bible, Belief and Human Sexuality

Bishop Michael Burrows and Professor Robert Gagnon discuss what the Bible has to say about human sexuality, particularly homosexuality, and what the church should do about it.

The video is over one and a half hours but it’s well worth a listen; I am left with an enduring impression that the only participant to resort to logic was Robert Gagnon.

  1. Bishop Burrows and Professor Gagnon seemed to speak different languages. I personally believe that the church should get out of the marriage business. Today, the majority of believers (including myself) do not believe that same-sex relationship is an acceptable Christian behaviour.

  2. Michael Li is entirely correct. The Church and its leadership must come to realize that the Church is NOT in existence to endorse the views of society but rather to proclaim the truth of the Gospel. Homosexuality is sin in the same manner as stealing or whatever. We all have our individual sin tendencies which is part of our old nature but we are called to new life in Christ and you cannot get that by endorsing ANY sinful conduct. The church should not get out of the marriage business but MUST stand for the Gospel without any wavering. Those so-called bishops and other clergy that want to proclaim a false gospel should do the honourable thing and resign.

  3. Gagnon is brilliant. Schori is in the room and asks a question. Where and when did this event occur, please?
