The Rev. Canon Douglas Graydon considers the great Anglican non event of 2010 \u2013 General Synod \u2013 and writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n

And yet, gay and lesbian Anglicans continue to stand off to the side, relegated to being less than complete human beings within our community of faith. As long as the learning, discerning<\/p>\n

prayerful debates or indaba-like conversations continue, gay and lesbian Anglicans will be denied what every other Anglican enjoys: the full and blessed recognition of our relationships.<\/p>\n

Let us keep in mind the human dimension of every church debate that involves the \u201cworthiness\u201d of another to receive the recognition and blessing of \u201cthe church.\u201d And recognize the suffering experienced by those who are excluded, year after year, decade after decade.<\/p>\n

God help us to learn more quickly from our own history of exclusion and to live more boldly Christ\u2019s radical love of inclusion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rev. Graydon is one mixed up Canon.<\/p>\n

99% of Canadians who freely choose \u2013 indeed, who could not be dragged kicking and screaming into an Anglican Church \u2013 to \u201cstand off to the side\u201d of Anglicanism would probably be shocked to learn that, by doing so, they are \u00a0\u201cless than complete human beings\u201d. For most of humanity, \u201cblessing\u201d resides in the comforting assurance that \u201cdecade after decade\u201d they have been absent from an Anglican Church.<\/p>\n

Every other Anglican does not enjoy \u201cthe full and blessed recognition\u201d of his relationships. My dog and I have a deep, committed but hitherto unblessed relationship; he is hurt and feels profoundly excluded every Sunday when I set off to church without him, although his grief is considerably assuaged by noting the presence of the Anglican Journal in the cat\u2019s litter box.<\/p>\n

A blessing from an average Canadian Anglican Church isn\u2019t worth much, so the \u201cworthiness\u201d of its recipient isn\u2019t particularly relevant. In a real church, though, parishioners are acutely aware that they are unworthy of anything at all: any worthiness that has accrued to them is through Christ\u2019s atoning sacrifice on the cross and any blessing an unearned favour, not a \u201cright\u201d to be bludgeoned out of the disintegrating Anglican diabolarchy that masquerades as a church.<\/p>\n

The Rev. Canon should try and keep up with the times a little more. The \u201cnew gay\u201d is polyamory<\/a>; when is he going to start campaigning for the egregiously excluded polyamorists? \u2013 after all, they suffer so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
