{"id":9148,"date":"2010-06-27T18:00:13","date_gmt":"2010-06-27T22:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=9148"},"modified":"2010-06-27T18:00:13","modified_gmt":"2010-06-27T22:00:13","slug":"g20-prayer-vigil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/g20-prayer-vigil\/","title":{"rendered":"G20 \u201cprayer vigil\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Student Christian Movement has organised a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.g20.torontomobilize.org\/node\/286\" target=\"_blank\">prayer vigil<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Join the Student Christian Movement and friends\u00a0for a nonviolent, prayerful\u00a0action, to remember the victims of social and\u00a0economic oppression in the G20\u00a0countries, and of IMF\/World Bank economic\u00a0policies worldwide, and to express\u00a0our hope that the world leaders gathered in\u00a0Toronto will act in the\u00a0interests of all people, rather than just the\u00a0economic elite.<\/p>\n<p>We will gather on Sunday, June 27, at 2 pm, on\u00a0the grounds of St James\u00a0Anglican Cathedral (King and Church), and walk\u00a0to the barricade, where we\u00a0will remain in prayer and vigil for as long as\u00a0possible. Some of the\u00a0participants may choose to obstruct the entry\u00a0point or the road, and may be\u00a0arrested, but those who don&#8217;t choose to risk\u00a0arrest can also be full\u00a0participants in the vigil. Nonviolence and\u00a0inclusiveness are important values underlying our planning.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You might wonder why the SCM members didn\u2019t just pray at home or in their own local church. Simple: God can\u2019t hear these kinds of prayers unless they are spoken while standing next to a barricade.
