{"id":8891,"date":"2010-06-01T23:22:16","date_gmt":"2010-06-02T03:22:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=8891"},"modified":"2010-06-01T23:22:16","modified_gmt":"2010-06-02T03:22:16","slug":"the-anglican-church-of-canadas-resolution-on-the-covenant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/the-anglican-church-of-canadas-resolution-on-the-covenant\/","title":{"rendered":"The Anglican Church of Canada\u2019s resolution on the Covenant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglican.ca\/gs2010\/resolutions\/a137\/\" target=\"_blank\">This<\/a> will be discussed at the General Synod in Halifax next week:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>A137: Anglican Communion Covenant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Be it resolved that this General Synod:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>receive the final text of <em>The Covenant for      the Anglican Communion<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>request that materials be prepared under the      auspices of the Anglican Communion Working Group, for parishes and      dioceses in order that study and consultation be undertaken on<em> The      Covenant for the Anglican Communion<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>direct the Council of General Synod, after      this period of consultation and study, to bring a recommendation regarding      adoption of the Covenant for the Anglican Communion to the General Synod      of 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>What does the Anglican Church of Canada do when someone tries to pin it down with a wet noodle?<\/p>\n<p>Receive the wet noodle; circulate the wet noodle to parishes for close inspection; shelve the wet noodle for 3 years in the hope that it might become more flaccid.
