{"id":7797,"date":"2010-03-16T14:00:55","date_gmt":"2010-03-16T18:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=7797"},"modified":"2010-03-16T14:00:55","modified_gmt":"2010-03-16T18:00:55","slug":"may-the-diversity-force-be-with-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/may-the-diversity-force-be-with-you\/","title":{"rendered":"May the diversity Force be with you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once again the Force has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-1258365\/Jedi-believer-wins-apology-Jobcentre-kicked-wearing-hood.html?ITO=1490\" target=\"_blank\">bent the will of its detractors<\/a> \u2013 insufficiently inclusive government employees in this case \u2013 into submission:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/i\/pix\/2010\/03\/16\/article-0-08BD2723000005DC-687_224x423.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Image\" width=\"112\" height=\"212\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As any Star Wars fan knows, the Force is a powerful tool that can be harnessed to control the minds of weak-willed individuals.<\/p>\n<p>So when Jedi believer Chris Jarvis was told to remove his hooded top at a Jobcentre, its staff must have been made of stern stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Despite explaining he wears a cowl as part of his faith, the 31-year-old was marched off the premises by security guards after refusing to comply.<\/p>\n<p>Infuriated by his treatment, he wrote a letter of complaint to the branch in Southend, Essex, and was surprised to receive an apology which said the service &#8217;embraces diversity and respects customers&#8217; religions&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the olive branch, the disabled father of three is planning to sue Jobcentre Plus for discrimination.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One wonders what organisation could possibly want to employ him.
