{"id":7453,"date":"2010-02-11T17:54:39","date_gmt":"2010-02-11T22:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=7453"},"modified":"2010-02-11T17:54:39","modified_gmt":"2010-02-11T22:54:39","slug":"bring-on-the-airport-body-scanners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/bring-on-the-airport-body-scanners\/","title":{"rendered":"Bring on the airport body scanners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I <em>was<\/em> under the impression that airport body scanners were a complete waste of time and that profiling was the answer to ferreting out terrorists. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnsnews.com\/news\/article\/61231\" target=\"_blank\">This<\/a> has changed my mind; about the body scanners, at least:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Airport Body Scanners Violate the Teachings of Islam, Says Muslim Group<\/p>\n<p>A group of Muslim scholars says it supports airline safety, but it is &#8220;deeply concerned&#8221; about the use of airport scanners that show nude images of the human body.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) emphasizes that a general and public use of such scanners is against the teachings of Islam, natural law and all religions and cultures that stand for decency and modesty,\u201d the group said in a Feb. 10 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.islamonline.net\/servlet\/Satellite?c=Article_C&amp;cid=1265741033256&amp;pagename=Zone-English-Living_Shariah\/LSELayout\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a> posted at Islam Online.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is a violation of clear Islamic teachings that men or women be seen naked by other men and women,&#8221; FCNA explained.
