{"id":6446,"date":"2009-11-28T22:37:47","date_gmt":"2009-11-29T03:37:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=6446"},"modified":"2009-11-28T22:37:47","modified_gmt":"2009-11-29T03:37:47","slug":"heterosexual-couple-want-to-play-at-being-homosexual","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/heterosexual-couple-want-to-play-at-being-homosexual\/","title":{"rendered":"Heterosexual couple want to play at being homosexual"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I suppose it was inevitable at some point: in the name of equality, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.islingtongazette.co.uk\/content\/islington\/gazette\/news\/story.aspx?brand=ISLGOnline&amp;category=news&amp;tBrand=northlondon24&amp;tCategory=newsislg&amp;itemid=WeED25%20Nov%202009%2011%3A27%3A08%3A563\" target=\"_blank\">a heterosexual couple want a gay wedding<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A STRAIGHT couple battling to have a &#8220;gay&#8221; civil partnership in the name of sexual equality are to have their case raised in Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Civil servants Tom Freeman and Katherine Doyle, of North Road, Holloway, feel &#8220;alienated from the patriarchal traditions of marriage&#8221; &#8211; but because they are heterosexual they are banned from having a civil partnership under UK law.<\/p>\n<p>The couple, who have been together almost four years, filed an application for a so-called &#8220;gay marriage&#8221; but were turned down by the registrar at Islington Town Hall, in Upper Street, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Freeman said: &#8220;It&#8217;s been very worthwhile.
