{"id":5960,"date":"2009-10-14T21:34:49","date_gmt":"2009-10-15T01:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=5960"},"modified":"2009-10-14T21:34:49","modified_gmt":"2009-10-15T01:34:49","slug":"defaming-jesus-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/defaming-jesus-in-scotland\/","title":{"rendered":"Defaming Jesus in Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When Jesus asked Peter \u201cwho do you say that I am?\u201d Peter replied, \u201cYou are the Christ, the Son of the living God.\u201d <em>Matt 15:16. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>He asks us the same question: who<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5961 alignright\" title=\"Queen\" src=\"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/queen.jpg\" alt=\"Queen\" width=\"293\" height=\"356\" \/> do we believe he is?<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, Jo Clifford thinks he is a transsexual woman and is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tron.co.uk\/docs\/file\/Tron_SeasonBrochure_Autumn09.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">performing a play about it<\/a> at the Tron theatre, Glasgow, Scotland:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>JESUS, QUEEN OF HEAVEN WRITTEN + PERFORMED BY JO CLIFFORD<\/p>\n<p>Jesus is a transsexual woman. And it is now she walks the earth.<\/p>\n<p>This is a play with music that presents her sayings, her miracles, and her testimony.<\/p>\n<p>And she does not condemn the gays or the queers or the trans women or the trans men, and no, not the straight women nor the straight men either. Because she is the Daughter of God, most certainly, and almost as certainly the son also. And God\u2019s child condemns nobody. She can only love\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It isn\u2019t particularly surprising to note that the Tron theatre is not only a Scottish registered charity \u2013 a word whose use is replete with irony, considering its agape etymology \u2013 and a beneficiary of the Scottish Arts Council, or the Scottish taxpayer.<\/p>\n<p>Other than the obvious blasphemous aspects of this, what makes it such bad art is, first, it is cowardly: Christianity is an easy target \u2013 too easy. A play entitled \u201cMohammed the Paedophile\u201d might not appeal to everyone, but at least it would take guts and have the potential for being historically accurate. Second, anything masquerading as art that has to resort to such politically correct perculsion, is sufficiently devoid of imagination that the only way it could survive is through grants from intellectually bankrupt Arts Councils. Third, it is part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glasgay.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Glasgay festival<\/a>, whose purpose is to:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; celebrate all things FAMILY and FEMININE. From trapped lovers to mothers on the verge, Hollywood legends, old queens, random storks, transgender goddesses and ginger stereotypes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>a statement which, as far as I can tell, is completely without  meaning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When Jesus asked Peter \u201cwho do you say that I am?\u201d Peter replied, \u201cYou are the Christ, the Son of the living God.\u201d Matt 15:16.
