{"id":5817,"date":"2009-09-26T20:44:15","date_gmt":"2009-09-27T00:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=5817"},"modified":"2009-09-26T20:44:15","modified_gmt":"2009-09-27T00:44:15","slug":"the-un-circus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/the-un-circus\/","title":{"rendered":"The UN circus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gaddaffi\u2019s insane ramblings were too much for his translator, who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/worldnews\/article-1216068\/Gaddafis-translator-collapsed-exhaustion-UN-rant.html\" target=\"_blank\">succumbed to the barrage<\/a> by declaring he \u201ccouldn\u2019t take it any more\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Colonel Gaddafi&#8217;s bizarre rant at the UN was met with yawns and disbelief by delegates.<\/p>\n<p>But it was too much for the eccentric Libyan leader&#8217;s translator who is said to have collapsed with exhaustion during the lengthy diatribe.<\/p>\n<p>The beleaguered interpreter cried &#8216;I just can\u2019t take it any more,&#8217; into a live microphone in Arabic after 75 minutes of Gaddafi&#8217;s ramblings.<\/p>\n<p>He was replaced by the UN\u2019s Arabic section chief, Rasha Ajalyaqeen, who translated the final 20 minutes of the speech.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Canada and others walked out on the odious Ahmadinejad&#8217;s battological drivel, thus sparing themselves from a similar breakdown, while Obama made the rather curious statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI have been in office for just nine months &#8212; though some days it seems a lot longer. I am well aware of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world. These expectations are not about me.
