{"id":5737,"date":"2009-09-20T12:53:13","date_gmt":"2009-09-20T16:53:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=5737"},"modified":"2009-09-20T12:53:13","modified_gmt":"2009-09-20T16:53:13","slug":"pierre-trudeau-in-the-queer-hall-of-fame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/pierre-trudeau-in-the-queer-hall-of-fame\/","title":{"rendered":"Pierre Trudeau in the Queer Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/news\/canada\/article\/698317\" target=\"_blank\">Star<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;Queer&#8217; hall of fame inducts Pierre Trudeau.<\/p>\n<p>VANCOUVER\u2013Pierre Trudeau&#8217;s flamboyance and tendency to provoke debate often landed him in controversy and those traits have now landed him in the Queer Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau is one of five inaugural inductees into the newly established hall, along with Olympic gold-medal swimmer Mark Tewksbury and three other long-time activists in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community.<\/p>\n<p>The former prime minister was a key figure in decriminalizing homosexuality and his famous partial quote \u2013 &#8220;there&#8217;s no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation&#8221; \u2013 helped convince Parliament to pass the law in 1969.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For a liberal such as Trudeau, the bedroom was just about the <em>only <\/em>place where the state had no place: it intruded everywhere else. That has all changed: now you can\u2019t keep the state out of the bedroom \u2013 particularly children\u2019s bedrooms. We have diverse, inclusive, pornographic <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.macleans.ca\/2009\/09\/08\/you%E2%80%99re-teaching-our-kids-what\/\" target=\"_blank\">state sponsored sex indoctrination<\/a> designed to convince the last people who need convincing &#8211; hormone-inflamed teenagers &#8211; that sex is enjoyable:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In her workshops, Jansen urges teens to ask about anything and everything, from masturbation, gender identity and same-sex feelings to sex toys (which they keep on hand in case the subject comes up), why people like oral sex, and why that particular act should go both ways. She encourages them to role play in order to learn how to broach difficult conversations. For instance, how do you raise the subject of condoms in the heat of the moment? And what do you do if a boy says he won\u2019t wear one? To help illustrate the \u201cpleasure centres\u201d portion of the lesson, Jansen and her colleagues bring in visual aids from the store, including a plush pink vulva puppet. \u201cPeople laugh. They can\u2019t <em>believe<\/em> it,\u201d she says. \u201cBut they don\u2019t know what a vulva looks like. <em>Adult<\/em> women don\u2019t know what a vulva looks like.\u201d To describe the male anatomy, they bring a dildo. \u201cWe usually bring one that is silver-coloured and we say, \u2018This is the head of the penis. This is the shaft.
