The United Church of Canada has a new Moderator, Mardi Tindal. According to recent reports<\/a>, \u201cShe tweets. She\u2019s green. She\u2019s media savvy. She\u2019s animated.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 all laudable accomplishments which St. Peter and St. Paul sadly lacked. In addition to a new moderator, the United Church has also invented a new language where \u201cbelief is a noun and faith is a verb.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

New Moderator, new language and, new Creed<\/a> –\u00a0 some would say, new religion. In keeping with modern family life, the Father is absent:<\/p>\n

We are not alone,<\/p>\n

we live in God’s world.<\/p>\n

We believe in God:
\nwho has created and is creating,
\nwho has come in Jesus,
\nthe Word made flesh,
\nto reconcile and make new,
\nwho works in us and others
\nby the Spirit.<\/p>\n

We trust in God.<\/p>\n

We are called to be the Church:
\nto celebrate God’s presence,
\nto live with respect in Creation,
\nto love and serve others,
\nto seek justice and resist evil,
\nto proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
\nour judge and our hope.
\nIn life, in death, in life beyond death,
\nGod is with us.<\/p>\n

We are not alone.<\/p>\n
