{"id":5003,"date":"2009-07-23T09:13:02","date_gmt":"2009-07-23T13:13:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=5003"},"modified":"2009-07-23T09:13:02","modified_gmt":"2009-07-23T13:13:02","slug":"defacing-the-bible-as-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/defacing-the-bible-as-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Defacing the Bible as Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was only a matter of time, I suppose, before the bankrupt wreckage that passes for art in today\u2019s culture came up with a newly minted piece of drivel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-1201568\/Art-exhibition-encourages-visitors-deface-Bible.html\" target=\"_blank\">like this<\/a>:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/i\/pix\/2009\/07\/23\/article-1201568-05CA0561000005DC-912_468x296.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Image\" width=\"234\" height=\"148\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An art exhibition where people are encouraged to write in a Bible has seen visitors daub abuse and obscenities across its pages.<\/p>\n<p>Part of Made in God&#8217;s Image, the exhibit also includes a video of a woman ripping pages from the Bible and stuffing them into her bra, knickers and mouth.<\/p>\n<p>Next to the copy of the Bible at the Gallery of Modern Art (Goma) in Glasgow is a container of pens and a notice, which says: &#8216;If you feel you have been excluded from the Bible, please write your way back into it.&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The taxpayer subsidised Goma Gallery also features a gay pornography exhibit intended to combat homophobia; the theory appears to be that a display of the grotesque is the path to social acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>Undoubtedly the organisers of this nonsense see it as a courageous statement.
