{"id":4354,"date":"2009-05-27T10:34:50","date_gmt":"2009-05-27T14:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=4354"},"modified":"2009-05-27T10:34:50","modified_gmt":"2009-05-27T14:34:50","slug":"repentance-lite-from-the-wcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/repentance-lite-from-the-wcc\/","title":{"rendered":"Repentance-lite from the WCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The World Council of Churches <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oikoumene.org\/en\/news\/news-management\/eng\/a\/article\/\/message-of-the-presidents-7.html\" target=\"_blank\">calls for repentance<\/a> at Pentecost<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Repentance in today\u2019s world will involve:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7Corporate managers recognizing their errors, publicly confessing them and making reparation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7All of us who are responsible for the degradation of the ecosystem mending our ways and making efforts to reduce all forms of pollution.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7Those who instigate violence being encouraged to become gentle and tolerant, consistent with our prayer that the ecumenical \u201cDecade to Overcome Violence\u201d which is drawing to a close will not have taken place without having some impact upon us.<\/p>\n<p>The repentance proclaimed by Christ and strongly restated at Pentecost is a force for spiritual transformation, for change and for renewal. Human beings must seek to be reconciled with themselves, with one another, and with their environment, and churches too must go on seeking reconciliation.
