{"id":4251,"date":"2009-05-18T15:33:27","date_gmt":"2009-05-18T19:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anglicansamizdat.wordpress.com\/?p=4251"},"modified":"2009-05-18T15:33:27","modified_gmt":"2009-05-18T19:33:27","slug":"a-fresh-wind-for-those-whose-nostrils-are-plugged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/a-fresh-wind-for-those-whose-nostrils-are-plugged\/","title":{"rendered":"A Fresh Wind \u2013 for those whose nostrils are plugged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The aphorism, <em>\u201cthere&#8217;s a fresh wind blowing\u201d<\/em> makes a regular appearance in the Anglican repertoire of routine banalities that pose as prophetic or creative insight: for example <a href=\"http:\/\/news.anglican.ca\/news\/stories\/2024\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As the Primate puts it, &#8220;there&#8217;s a fresh wind blowing through our church!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicanjournal.com\/canada\/cogs\/002\/article\/anglicans-invited-to-reflect-on-what-were-called-to-be-and-do-1\/?cHash=a3d2037b9c\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>there\u2019s a fresh wind blowing in the life of the Anglican Church of Canada to engage us again in this important reflection on God\u2019s mission and what it is we\u2019re called to be and do.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christiantoday.com\/article\/anglicans.to.reevaluate.how.they.interpret.scripture\/23334.htm\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>open to the fresh wind of the Spirit who inspired scripture in the first place.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Its main purpose \u00a0is to help justify tossing out 2000 years of biblical thinking to make room for a recently resuscitated heresy. Those whose olfactory organ is still functioning recognise the wind for what it is: a putrid stench.<\/p>\n<p>Which makes me wonder why the Anglican Federation \u2013 a body of orthodox Anglicans which has decided to remain in the ACoC &#8211; has chosen to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicanfederation.ca\/nr_051109.htm\" target=\"_blank\">use this phrase<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I\u2019m happy to report that a fresh wind is blowing through the Anglican Essentials Federation.
