{"id":27776,"date":"2019-11-09T14:40:14","date_gmt":"2019-11-09T19:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=27776"},"modified":"2019-11-09T15:03:57","modified_gmt":"2019-11-09T20:03:57","slug":"anglicans-fleeing-the-vortex-of-negativity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/anglicans-fleeing-the-vortex-of-negativity\/","title":{"rendered":"Anglicans fleeing the vortex of negativity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A r<a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/latest-anglican-church-of-canada-membership-and-attendance-statistics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ecent report<\/a> on the catastrophic decline in the Anglican Church of Canada should not draw Canadian Anglicans into a \u201cvortex of negativity\u201d, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anglicanjournal.com\/wake-up-call-cogs-hears-statistics-report-on-church-membership-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">says<\/a> the new Primate, Linda Nicholls:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-27777\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cogs2-1024x639.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cogs2.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cogs2-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cogs2-768x479.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/cogs2-481x300.jpg 481w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/>Nicholls said she hoped that instead of trying to figure out why the church was in numerical decline, or get drawn into a \u201cvortex of negativity\u201d about it, Canadian Anglicans would instead focus on the church\u2019s calling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re called to do and be God\u2019s people in a particular place, for the purpose of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, and the only question is, \u2018How do we need to share it, so that it might be heard by those around us?\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You might be surprised to learn that I agree with Nicholls: the answer is the Good News of Jesus Christ.
