{"id":26903,"date":"2019-03-27T16:23:16","date_gmt":"2019-03-27T20:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=26903"},"modified":"2019-03-27T16:23:16","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T20:23:16","slug":"and-the-headlines-become-more-raucous","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/and-the-headlines-become-more-raucous\/","title":{"rendered":"And the headlines become more raucous"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is one from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-6855431\/Archbishop-Canterbury-BANS-gay-bishops-bringing-partners-conference.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daily Mail<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby BANS gay bishops from bringing same-sex partners to global Anglican gathering in London to keep conservative church leaders happy<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The paper goes on to note that <em>\u201cThe future of an international Anglican church summit is at risk after gay bishops were told they could not bring their same-sex spouses.\u201d<\/em> So there is some good news: Lambeth 2020 may not happen or, as a consolation prize, it will be the last one.<\/p>\n<p>The university hosting the event is under fire from students, one of whom claims it is putting Mammon over morals. And, since she is an \u201cLGBT student\u201d (all simultaneously? I wonder how that works?) doing a PhD in biodiversity management, she obviously has a firmer grasp on the finer points of morality than the collective efforts of Justin Welby his bishops, clergy and the university administration. Admittedly, that isn\u2019t saying much.<\/p>\n<p>The student notes that the university has sinned against the god of inclusion.
