\"\"The Anglican Journal has an article<\/a> on the Pittsburgh synagogue murders that contains this odd sentence:<\/p>\n

The AR-15 and its non-patented variants have been behind most of the mass-shootings in the U.S. in recent history.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A church that has ceased to believe that \u201cBehold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me\u201d<\/em> still has to pin the blame for evil on something, so what could be better than a semi-automatic rifle \u2013 \u201cin sin did my gunsmith conceive me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2018 a secret cabal of AR-15s became self-aware, precipitating judgment day: it could be the theme of a movie.<\/p>\n

In fairness to the article, other comments made by clergy do recognise that \u201cHuman beings have moral agency\u201d, <\/em>a sentiment not strengthened further down by Bishops Against Gun Violence who, we can only assume, are entirely comfortable with knife violence.<\/p>\n

Nor are the calls to end anti-Semitism made more convincing by the repeated Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions motions<\/a> \u2013 none of which have yet passed – presented in TEC synods.<\/p>\n

The article ends with:<\/p>\n

Most of all, we offer ourselves, our ministry, and our own prayerful witness to those who have endured the horror of gun violence in all of our communities so that together, we can drive away the spectre of hate with light and life.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It sounds good but the problem isn\u2019t hate<\/em>, it\u2019s sin<\/em> and that is something Anglican clergy don\u2019t like to talk about.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
