{"id":24559,"date":"2016-11-20T14:35:29","date_gmt":"2016-11-20T19:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=24559"},"modified":"2016-11-20T14:39:42","modified_gmt":"2016-11-20T19:39:42","slug":"bogus-unity-is-worse-than-honest-disunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/bogus-unity-is-worse-than-honest-disunity\/","title":{"rendered":"Bogus unity is worse than honest disunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now that same-sex marriage is settled, the Anglican Church of Canada is concentrating on presenting a united front \u201c<em>as a form of witness to the world\u201d, <\/em>in contrast to this <em>\u201ctime of political division\u201d, <\/em>a snide reference, I presume, to the US elections.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a tweet showing Michael Thompson exhorting the church to indulge in a little faux-unity hypocrisy for the sake of its witness&#8230;. or should that be coffers?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24560\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/unity.jpg\" alt=\"unity\" width=\"537\" height=\"251\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The only problem is, there is no unity in the ACoC: a number of bishops walked out of the last general synod after the same-sex marriage vote; later, they <a href=\"http:\/\/cdn.agilitycms.com\/anglican-journal\/A%20Statement%20from%20some%20Bishops%20of%20the%20Anglican%20Church%20of%20Canada%20July%2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">registered their dissent.<\/a> Aboriginal Anglicans want to <a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/anglican-church-of-canada\/indigenous-anglicans-unhappy-with-same-sex-marriage-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\">distance themselves<\/a> from same-sex marriage.
