{"id":24453,"date":"2016-10-07T21:10:57","date_gmt":"2016-10-08T01:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=24453"},"modified":"2016-10-07T21:10:57","modified_gmt":"2016-10-08T01:10:57","slug":"an-anglican-hunger-for-thanksgiving-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/an-anglican-hunger-for-thanksgiving-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"An Anglican hunger for Thanksgiving justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Anglican Church of Canada wants to end poverty (Bishop Jane Alexander is co-chair of the End Poverty Edmonton Task Force), an ambition that we might be tempted to think a trifle arrogant since the Church\u2019s founder said it couldn\u2019t be done.<\/p>\n<p>No one seriously thinks the ACoC can actually do it, of course; it can\u2019t even deliver Biblical sustenance to its own flock. That means it\u2019s up to the government or, to put it more plainly, taxpayers, most of whom don\u2019t attend an Anglican church, anyway, so that\u2019s a good plan.<\/p>\n<p>Read it all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicanjournal.com\/articles\/-a-hunger-for-justice\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At their first joint assembly in 2013, the Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada passed a declaration committing their churches to \u201cadvocate for renewed federal funding\u201d and for an \u201cintegrated national collaborative strategy and greater accountability on the part of provinces and municipalities\u201d in addressing homelessness and substandard housing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Whatever you do, though, don\u2019t mention abortion. Sorry, I know I just mentioned it. That is because killing the unborn is the biggest injustice that will be visited on the defenceless this Thanksgiving but the ACoC hasn\u2019t the guts to stand up for murdered unborn babies. So I won\u2019t mention abortion.
