The Church of Sweden has found a new one.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish Church\u2019s head of communications, Gunnar Sjoberg, thinks it is offensive to wear a cross in support of persecuted Christians; he makes no mention of whether he finds persecuting Christians to be offensive.<\/p>\n<p>Coincidentally, around the same time Sjoberg made his pronouncement, membership in his church <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelocal.se\/20160812\/swedish-church-membership-takes-a-summer-plummet\" target=\"_blank\">plummeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.israelhayom.com\/site\/newsletter_opinion.php?id=17165\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Provocative and un-\u200eChristian&#8221;: \u200eThat is how Gunnar Sjoberg, the head of communications for the Swedish Church, chose to \u200ecomment on the August social media campaign #MittKors (&#8220;MyCross&#8221;), which urged Christians and \u200eothers to wear a cross in support of the world&#8217;s persecuted Christians. \u200e<\/p>\n<p>The campaign was a reaction to Christians being murdered or kidnapped and enslaved by the Islamic State group, the Islamic terrorists pillaging village after village throughout the \u200eMiddle East, and one would think this campaign would be given unanimous support.<\/p>\n<p>But \u200ethen, one would be mistaken. \u200e<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;.]<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\"><span class=\"normal14\">Sjoberg says, &#8220;The \u200ecross of Christ may end up being used as a weapon against another faith and not as a \u200esymbol of support for Christians,&#8221; thus choosing not to engage with the issue. This is cowardly and unjust, although it is in line with the Swedish Church&#8217;s documented lack of moral compass. Sweden&#8217;s \u200elargest daily newspaper, Aftonbladet, has a similar and equally offensive reaction, \u200ecomparing the cross to the swastika and the #MyCross campaign to that of Nazi \u200epropaganda, thus playing shamelessly into the hands of the extremists who have made \u200eChristians into the world&#8217;s most persecuted group. \u200e<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cross offends the world \u2013 and an increasing number of church denominations \u2013 for a number of reasons.
