When Anglican leaders are not parading their impotence by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglican.ca\/primate\/communications\/2008archive\/walkofwitness20080925\/\" target=\"_blank\">Making Poverty History<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/acen.anglicancommunion.org\/resources\/anglican-bishops-for-climate-justice.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">demanding justice<\/a> on behalf of the climate, they are, with no medical knowledge whatsoever and a diminished confidence in the efficacy of prayer to heal, trumpeting that AIDS is to be banished by 2030. But why AIDS?<\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the following chart, heart disease kills five time the number of people as AIDS. Even diarrhoea kills as many people as AIDS. Why isn\u2019t the Archbishop of Canterbury telling us what a great privilege it is to be invited to give a message on the fight against diarrhoea?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/disease.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23964\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/disease.jpg\" alt=\"disease\" width=\"689\" height=\"699\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/disease.jpg 689w, https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/disease-296x300.jpg 296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 689px) 100vw, 689px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The reason, I suspect, is that, in a similar vein to Romans 1:18-32, as the church\u2019s interest in eternity has waned, so its interest in sex \u2013 homosexual sex in particular \u2013 has increased, attracting a disproportionate number of homosexual clergy.<\/p>\n<p>Although AIDS can be spread through heterosexual contact, the preferred way to contract it is still through homosexual activity. As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/hiv\/group\/msm\/\" target=\"_blank\">this article<\/a> points out, homosexual men are <em>\u201c<\/em><em>more severely affected by HIV than any other group in the United States.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So for Anglican leaders, combating AIDS is a species of group self-interest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Read and watch here.
