Bishop Mary Irwin-Gibson is the new bishop of the Diocese of Montreal, a diocese whose membership has plummeted from 93,000 in 1960 to 11,000 in 2015.<\/p>\n
How does she intend to make the diocese \u201crelevant\u201d? Well, she is going to carpet bomb the diocese with clich\u00e9s. We have: \u201cthink outside the box\u201d \u2013 a phrase I\u2019ve heard used by witless business executives hundreds of times when they have run out of ideas \u2013 \u201cbuild up their [the clergy\u2019s]<\/em> sense of engagement\u201d and \u2026.. wait for it, \u201cmake ministry viable and sustainable\u201d. She does mention \u201csharing the Gospel\u201d, which is odd since I\u2019d have thought it too far inside the box to be worthy of attention.
