{"id":22681,"date":"2015-03-09T23:08:21","date_gmt":"2015-03-10T03:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=22681"},"modified":"2015-03-09T23:08:43","modified_gmt":"2015-03-10T03:08:43","slug":"diocese-of-huron-cant-demolish-st-barnabas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/diocese-of-huron-cant-demolish-st-barnabas\/","title":{"rendered":"Diocese of Huron can\u2019t demolish St. Barnabas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I mentioned <a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/diocese-of-huron\/the-diocese-of-huron-wants-to-demolish-st-barnabas-windsor\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, St. Barnabas\u2019s congregation was moved to St. Aidan\u2019s because the Diocese of Huron won St. Aidan\u2019s property from the congregation in a lawsuit, ousted the congregation and now needs create the illusion that it needed the building for its own congregation.<\/p>\n<p>The diocese\u2019s plan, since it couldn\u2019t sell St. Aidan\u2019s without appearing ridiculously hypocritical, was to demolish the now vacated St. Barnabas. Unfortunately for the diocese, St. Barnabas is in the process of being designated a heritage property, so it can\u2019t be demolished. Such a pity.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.windsorstar.com\/news\/heritage-committee-dont-knock-down-st-barnabas-church\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The city\u2019s heritage committee voted Monday to deny the Anglican Diocese\u2019s application to demolish the main church, at 2115 Chilver Road, which was built in 1955.
