Nathan Cirillo was shot at point-blank range as he stood guarding the National War Memorial in Ottawa Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The young Hamilton father was a reservist who was only on a short-term posting at the memorial, relatives and other sources have confirmed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bishop Michael Bird had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ottawacitizen.com\/news\/Shooting+Nathan+Cirillo+strengthens+cadet+resolve+serve\/10315690\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bishop Michael Bird visited the armoury to pass on the message that\u00a0the soldiers and their fallen comrade\u2019s family were in his thoughts and prayers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are blessed to live in this country \u2026 but maybe this is a reality check for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Canada is traditionally at the forefront in peacekeeping, he said. \u201cObviously, we live in a different world, now. We live in a violent world, but ultimately violence does not have the final say.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bird has it wrong: ultimately, there will be judgement and it will be not be non-violent. Those who have not received the forgiveness afforded by Christ\u2019s atoning death on the cross will be judged; their fate will be unpleasant.<\/p>\n<p>Even the less than ultimate, temporal, <em>final say<\/em> will be the exercise of force by state authorities who have the Biblically sanctioned authority <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans+13%3A4&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\">to restrain evil by the sword<\/a> \u2013 using violence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From here: Cpl.
