{"id":21639,"date":"2014-06-18T15:02:54","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T19:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=21639"},"modified":"2014-06-18T15:02:54","modified_gmt":"2014-06-18T19:02:54","slug":"vancouver-school-board-invents-new-transgender-pronouns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/vancouver-school-board-invents-new-transgender-pronouns\/","title":{"rendered":"Vancouver School Board invents new transgender pronouns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalpost.com\/2014\/06\/17\/vancouver-school-boards-genderless-pronouns-not-likely-to-stick-if-history-is-any-indication\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Vancouver School Board has decided that students may ask teachers and staff to address them by the pronoun of their choice, to accommodate transgender students for whom \u201che\u201d and \u201cshe\u201d do not fit.<\/p>\n<p>Offered as possible replacements by the board: The newly coined pronouns xe, xem, xyr, which are pronounced to rhyme with the genderless plurals, they, them, and their, only starting with the \u201cz\u201d sound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, the former psychiatrist-in-chief of Johns Hopkins Hospital <a href=\"http:\/\/anglicanmainstream.org\/former-head-psychiatrist-transgender-surgery-isnt-the-solution\/\" target=\"_blank\">calls transgender confusion<\/a> what it really is: a \u201cmental disorder\u201d. Nowhere near as serious a mental disorder as that suffered by the Vancouver School Board, of course.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a June 12 Wall Street Journal op-ed, Dr. Paul McHugh wrote that \u201cpolicy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered\u201d by not treating transgender \u201cconfusions \u2026 as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From here: The Vancouver School Board has decided that students may ask teachers and staff to address them by the pronoun of their choice, to accommodate transgender students for whom \u201che\u201d and \u201cshe\u201d do not fit.
