{"id":21621,"date":"2014-06-13T00:22:04","date_gmt":"2014-06-13T04:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=21621"},"modified":"2014-06-13T08:48:51","modified_gmt":"2014-06-13T12:48:51","slug":"st-matthews-abbotsford-is-going-through-a-bumpy-patch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/st-matthews-abbotsford-is-going-through-a-bumpy-patch\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Matthew&#8217;s Abbotsford is going through a bumpy patch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2011 the 500 member congregation of St. Matthew&#8217;s Abbotsford was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abbynews.com\/news\/125382603.html\" target=\"_blank\">ejected from its building<\/a> by the Diocese of New Westminster.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the rector of the diocese of New Westminster&#8217;s version of the parish, Rev Allen Doerksen, declared that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouver.anglican.ca\/News\/DiocesanNews\/tabid\/252\/Mode\/ViewArticle\/ArticleId\/1606\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">one day the church will become self-sustaining<\/a>. That day has not yet arrived: the parish is still being funded by the diocese and is now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouver.anglican.ca\/News\/DiocesanNews\/tabid\/252\/Mode\/ViewArticle\/ArticleId\/2067\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">going through a bumpy patch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, the church\u2019s furnaces need replacing so, to avoid a bumpy <em>cold<\/em> patch, the parish is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouver.anglican.ca\/Portals\/0\/June%2010%202014%20Diocesan%20Council\/Item%206.5%20-%20St.%20Matthew%20funding%20request%20for%20furnaces.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">asking the Diocese of New Westminster<\/a> for $150,000 to fix them.<\/p>\n<p>Both St. Matthew&#8217;s Abbotsford and St. John\u2019s Shaughnessy &#8211; which is <a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/diocese-of-new-westminster\/st-johns-shaughnessy-is-like-a-mausoleum\/\" target=\"_blank\">bleeding $20,000 per month<\/a> \u2013 were kept on artificial life-support by Bishop Michael Ingham to demonstrate to the world that the diocese\u2019s ersatz Christianity works. It doesn\u2019t.
