Instead we have the impersonal \u201cevil, and all its many forms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubmit to Christ as Lord\u201d is out, too because\u2026. well, these days, who wants to submit to <i>anything.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>This Christianity Lite has been concocted because it is easier to understand and it is more likely to attract people. In reality, it says to baptismal candidates that they are either too stupid to understand the real meaning of baptism or too far gone to want to go through with it.<\/p>\n<p>A special insult is reserved for women who, it is supposed, having been brainwashed by the zeitgeist to \u201cobject to the idea of submission\u201d, can no longer think for themselves and, so, are incapable of understanding that submitting to their Maker is probably in their best interest.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2533874\/Welby-casts-sin-christenings-Centuries-old-rite-rewritten-language-EastEnders-modern-congregation.html?ITO=1490&amp;ns_mchannel=rss&amp;ns_campaign=1490\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Parents and godparents no longer have to \u2018repent sins\u2019 and \u2018reject the devil\u2019 during christenings after the Church of England rewrote the solemn ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The new wording is designed to be easier to understand \u2013 but critics are stunned at such a fundamental change to a cornerstone of their faith, saying the new \u2018dumbed-down\u2019 version \u2018strikes at the heart\u2019 of what baptism means.<\/p>\n<p>In the original version, the vicar asks: \u2018Do you reject the devil and all rebellion against God?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Prompting the reply: \u2018I reject them.\u2019 They then ask: \u2018Do you repent of the sins that separate us from God and neighbour?\u2019, with the answer: \u2018I repent of them.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>But under the divisive reforms, backed by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and already being practised in 1,000 parishes, parents and godparents are asked to \u2018reject evil, and all its many forms, and all its empty promises\u2019 \u2013 with no mention of the devil or sin.<\/p>\n<p>The new text, to be tested in a trial lasting until Easter, also drops the word \u2018submit\u2019 in the phrase \u2018Do you submit to Christ as Lord?\u2019 because it is thought to have become \u2018problematical\u2019, especially among women who object to the idea of submission.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a new Church of England baptismal rite, sin is out, as is the devil.
