{"id":20638,"date":"2013-11-14T22:38:13","date_gmt":"2013-11-15T03:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=20638"},"modified":"2013-11-14T22:56:35","modified_gmt":"2013-11-15T03:56:35","slug":"the-sale-of-st-hildas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/the-sale-of-st-hildas\/","title":{"rendered":"The sale of St. Hilda\u2019s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Diocese of Niagara is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.niagara.anglican.ca\/Synod2013\/docs\/circular\/14.%20Synod%20Council%20Report%202013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">reporting<\/a> selling St. Hilda\u2019s for $1,900,000:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Anglican Diocese of Niagara sold the former St. Hilda\u2019s Church property to the Region of Halton on August 14, 2013 for $1,900,000.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A response from the Town of Oakville to my email inquiry on their buying price yielded:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hi David;<br \/>\nThe amount was $2,250,000.00 to purchase the 1258 Rebecca Street property.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It appears that the Town has the purchase price wrong:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/St.-Hildas-Sale.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20647\" alt=\"St. Hilda's Sale\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/St.-Hildas-Sale.jpg\" width=\"2815\" height=\"1337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/St.-Hildas-Sale.jpg 2815w, https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/St.-Hildas-Sale-300x142.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/St.-Hildas-Sale-1024x486.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/St.-Hildas-Sale-500x237.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2815px) 100vw, 2815px\" \/><\/a>As you can see, the property has been sold twice, once in 1957 for $2 when it was effectively donated by a parishioner; the parishioner was still attending St. Hilda&#8217;s when the vote was taken to leave the Diocese of Niagara in 2008.
