{"id":19163,"date":"2013-04-10T11:04:22","date_gmt":"2013-04-10T15:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=19163"},"modified":"2013-04-10T11:04:22","modified_gmt":"2013-04-10T15:04:22","slug":"the-church-of-englands-faith-and-ambiguity-commission-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/the-church-of-englands-faith-and-ambiguity-commission-report\/","title":{"rendered":"The Church of England\u2019s Faith and Ambiguity Commission Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Church of England has issued a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkinganglicans.org.uk\/uploads\/MarriageTEXTBrochurePrint.pdf?\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a> on marriage, same-sex marriage and same-sex civil partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>Following the fine Anglican tradition of definitiveness aversion, it is sufficiently polysemous to allow <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/society\/2013\/apr\/10\/church-england-same-sex-couples?utm_source=StandFirm&amp;utm_medium=post&amp;utm_campaign=link\" target=\"_blank\">some<\/a> to conclude that the CofE rejects the blessing of same sex couples, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/religion\/9983121\/Church-of-England-gives-blessing-to-recognising-civil-partnerships.html\" target=\"_blank\">others<\/a> to conclude that same sex couples should be given \u201cpastoral accommodations\u201d, \u201crecognition\u201d and \u201ccompassionate attention\u201d (in North America, dioceses called that a \u201cgenerous pastoral response\u201d shortly before launching into same sex blessings) and Giles Fraser to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2306755\/Church-England-allow-responsible-gay-couples-relationships-blessed-priest.html?ITO=1490&amp;ns_mchannel=rss&amp;ns_campaign=1490\" target=\"_blank\">say<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dr Giles Fraser, a former Canon of St Paul\u2019s Cathedral who is now priest-in-charge of a South London church, said: &#8216;You cannot escape what is down in this document in black and white.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This is saying you can bless same-sex relationships as long as you don\u2019t say what you are doing.
