{"id":19083,"date":"2013-03-28T10:50:05","date_gmt":"2013-03-28T14:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=19083"},"modified":"2013-03-28T10:50:05","modified_gmt":"2013-03-28T14:50:05","slug":"michael-pollesel-to-be-coadjutor-bishop-in-diocese-of-uruguay-after-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/michael-pollesel-to-be-coadjutor-bishop-in-diocese-of-uruguay-after-all\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Pollesel to be coadjutor bishop in Diocese of Uruguay after all"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-19086\" alt=\"Michael Pollesel\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/ens_032813_pollesel-500x330.jpg\" width=\"236\" height=\"219\" \/>The Diocese of Uruguay is a liberal diocese in a conservative province, a misalignment of predispositions that prompted it to ask to be moved to a more simpatico province; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicanjournal.com\/articles\/uruguay-thwarted-in-attempt-to-switch-provinces-11336\" target=\"_blank\">the request<\/a> \u00a0was denied.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The diocese of Uruguay says feels \u201cabandoned and unsupported\u201d after the standing committee\u00a0of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) turned down its request to change provinces.<\/p>\n<p>The diocese, which is part of the province of the Southern Cone, has asked that it be transferred to the province of Brasil, which it says is \u201cmore compatible\u201d in terms of theology, mission and philosophy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Canada\u2019s Archdeacon Michael Pollesel was voted in as coadjutor bishop in the Diocese of Uruguay, but the appointment was rejected twice by the Southern Cone\u2019s house of bishops, possibly because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.virtueonline.org\/portal\/modules\/news\/article.php?storyid=16050\" target=\"_blank\">of this<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A source close to the situation told VOL that the issue of women priests and the liberal proclivities of Pollesel and his association with the ultra-liberal Anglican Church of Canada were deciding factors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, the election has <a href=\"http:\/\/episcopaldigitalnetwork.com\/ens\/2013\/03\/28\/canada-pollesel-election-in-uruguay-ratified\/\" target=\"_blank\">been ratified<\/a> by the house of bishops; perhaps they hope to convert the new bishop:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Anglican Province of the Southern Cone has reconsidered the Diocese of Uruguay\u2019s appeal and has voted to ratify the election of Archdeacon Michael Pollesel as coadjutor bishop.<\/p>\n<p>The decision came 10 months after the province\u2019s House of Bishops rejected Pollesel\u2019s election.
