{"id":18536,"date":"2013-01-10T14:01:03","date_gmt":"2013-01-10T19:01:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=18536"},"modified":"2013-01-10T14:01:03","modified_gmt":"2013-01-10T19:01:03","slug":"in-the-anglican-church-of-canada-hope-is-a-boat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/in-the-anglican-church-of-canada-hope-is-a-boat\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Anglican Church of Canada, hope is a boat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Paul hoped for eternal life (Titus 3:7); Job\u2019s hope was in God (Job 13:15); King David placed his hope in God\u2019s steadfast love (Ps 33:18).<\/p>\n<p>Thrusting aside these\u00a0pass\u00e9, fevered deleria of Middle Eastern primitives in favour of something relevant to today\u2019s Anglican sophisticates, the Anglican Church of Canada has decided that hope is a boat; and they have a song to prove it.<\/p>\n<p>The song, \u201cHope\u201d is the winner of the ACoC\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/news.anglican.ca\/news\/stories\/2556?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+acc-news+%28Anglican+Church+of+Canada+News+Stories%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\" target=\"_blank\">Marks of Mission song contest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, it\u2019s \u201ccatchy and deep\u201d and Fred Hiltz is a fan.<\/p>\n<p>Although it is a pretty enough tune, well sung and produced, I can\u2019t for the life of me see what it has to do with Christianity. But, then, the same could be said about the Five Marks of Mission.
