{"id":17803,"date":"2012-10-31T22:22:57","date_gmt":"2012-11-01T02:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/?p=17803"},"modified":"2012-10-31T22:22:57","modified_gmt":"2012-11-01T02:22:57","slug":"there-is-an-abortion-law-in-canada-after-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/there-is-an-abortion-law-in-canada-after-all\/","title":{"rendered":"There is an abortion law in Canada after all"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately it is not a law that protects unborn babies: in Canada, an unborn baby can be aborted at <em>any<\/em> stage in a woman\u2019s pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>There <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Legal_protection_of_access_to_abortion#Laws_in_Canada\" target=\"_blank\">are laws<\/a>, though, that protect the fragile sensibilities of abortion clinics and their clientele by enforcing a buffer zone around the clinic preventing pro-life demonstrators holding up signs or engaging in the ultimate act of civil disobedience: <em>praying.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hence, Linda Gibbons \u2013 who seems determined to illustrate Thoreau\u2019s idea that <em>under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison<\/em>\u00a0 &#8211; was once again arrested for carrying a sign with a picture of a baby.<\/p>\n<p>To make sure the 63-year-old grandmother doesn\u2019t make a break for it and go sprinting off down Hillsdale Avenue, leaping over cars and knocking down innocent pedestrians, four brave police officers seize, subdue and handcuff her before bundling her into a waiting car.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QeWyyI6Fq6E?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately it is not a law that protects unborn babies: in Canada, an unborn baby can be aborted at any stage in a woman\u2019s pregnancy.
