The Anglican Church of Canada\u2019s Justice Camp<\/a> is a place where Anglican priests are sent for decontamination and re-education after they have had a close encounter with the Gospel. This Church Gulag is also a place of incarceration for particularly troublesome laity; it was only through the most extreme subterfuge that I managed to avoid it during my sojourn in the Diocese of Niagara.<\/p>\n

One of the tortures employed is being forced to sing songs like this one<\/a>. Some victims have been known to bite off their own tongues during the refrain:<\/p>\n

Meeting with Linda, with movers & shakers,
\nActivists, greenies, and health-and peace-makers,
\nMP\u2019s and editors, right on the ball,
\nHelp us respond to our fai-aithful call.<\/p>\n

Postcards and letters and online petitions,
\nRallies and sit-ins with local musicians,
\nScripture reminds us to take care of all-
\nWorking for justice can be such a ball!<\/p>\n

\nWhen our greed strikes,
\nWhen our fears roar,
\nWhen we\u2019re feeling proud,
\nWe simply remember our fai-aithful call –
\nAnd then we can speak out loud!<\/p>\n

Ruth & Amanda said, \u201cMPs will hear ya,
\nBut missing deadlines and dates won\u2019t endear ya,
\nStart with small steps and do homework, you-all,
\nIf you\u2019d be faithful to Jesus Christ\u2019s call.<\/p>\n

Issues of justice and tools to affect them,
\nSingular voices connect good intentions,
\nSacrifice, courage, the zeal of St. Paul,
\nHelp us respond to our God\u2019s faithful call<\/p>\n

\nComing from churches both rural and urban,
\nWe\u2019ve heard of problems both dark & disturbin\u2019,
\nBut with the expertise here in this hall,
