The parishioners were evicted and the diocese took possession of the building.<\/p>\n<p>One would think that this would be enough for the diocese, but, no: they also sued for $445,486.37 in court costs.<\/p>\n<p>This goes to show that the grasping avarice often associated with the legal profession pales to insignificance when compared to that of the average Canadian Anglican bishop \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diohuron.org\/who\/bishops\/bennett.php\" target=\"_blank\">Bishop Robert F. Bennett<\/a> in this case; although, come to think of it, he is a mediocre rather than an <em>average <\/em>bishop. Perhaps Bennett needs to reread the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicancommunion.org\/ministry\/mission\/fivemarks.cfm\">Five Marks of Mission<\/a> that are so beloved by his denomination, paying particular attention to <em>\u201c<\/em><em>To respond to human need by loving service\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201cTo seek to transform unjust structures of society\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The judge denied the diocese the $445,486.37; never mind, Bob, to assuage your financial embarrassment, you could always pass a tin cup to <a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/anglican-communion-alliance\/according-to-the-aca-the-diocese-of-torontos-gift-of-250000-to-the-diocese-of-new-westminster-was-a-tithe\/\" target=\"_blank\">Colin Johnson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/diocese-of-bc\/bishop-james-cowan-donates-100000-to-bishop-michael-ingham\/\" target=\"_blank\">James Cowan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anglicannetwork.ca\/nl_101512.htm\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canlii.org\/en\/on\/onsc\/doc\/2011\/2011onsc4403\/2011onsc4403.html\" target=\"_blank\">a decision<\/a> released on September 26, Justice H A Rady of the Superior Court of Ontario denied the Diocese of Huron\u2019s bid to exact legal costs from the leadership and parish of ANiC\u2019s St Aidan\u2019s (Windsor, ON). He says: \u201c\u2026I have come to the conclusion that it would be fair and just that the parties bear their own costs.\u201d The Diocese of Huron had been seeking $445,486.37 from the people of St Aidan\u2019s and has now appealed this decision.
