I had an argument with one of our nuns and she said we shouldn&#8217;t try and criticize what we didn&#8217;t understand. Now I shall tell her I have had it straight from a real artist, and snubs to her.'&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Evelyn Waugh, himself an artist, probably would not have predicted the level of bosh to which modern art would eventually sink. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2146436\/Empty-sculpture-stand-blank-canvas-main-attractions-invisible-art-exhibition.html?ITO=1490\" target=\"_blank\">Here<\/a> is an exhibition of invisible art currently on display in London:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16515\" title=\"Empty art\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Empty-art.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"254\" height=\"196\" \/>It looks like the aftermath of a museum robbery.<\/p>\n<p>But this empty sculpture stand is in fact the main attraction at a leading British gallery \u2013 and punters will be charged \u00a38 a head to see it.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018work\u2019 was created as a stunt by Andy Warhol and will form part of an exhibition of \u2018invisible art\u2019 at London\u2019s Hayward Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will be asked to look beyond \u2018material objects\u2019 and \u2018set their imaginations on fire\u2019 by looking at the empty gallery spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Also included in the 50 \u2018invisible works\u2019 will be an empty piece of paper, an empty canvas and an empty space.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Asinine as it is, it may be preferable to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunnewsnetwork.ca\/sunnews\/politics\/archives\/2012\/05\/20120517-205129.html\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> less than appetising portrait of Stephen Harper:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-16516\" title=\"Harper\" src=\"https:\/\/anglicansamizdat.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Harper.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"471\" height=\"311\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Brideshead Revisted, one of my favourite novels, the following exchange takes place: &#8216;Charles,&#8217; said Cordelia, &#8216;Modern Art is all bosh, isn&#8217;t it?&#8217; &#8220;&#8216;Great bosh.&#8217; &#8220;&#8216;Oh, I&#8217;m so glad.
