This conjures the image \u2013 for me at least \u2013 of Anglimergent members bobbing about floating in a liquefied Anglican ether, rather like faecal matter in a tide of sewage.<\/p>\n That might not be what was intended; fortunately, there is a website<\/a> that explains all.
